What not to do. . .

Don't send ground troops without:

a) air cover and
B) a Cutty Red for respawning.

They didn't control the enguagement even amongst their own forces because they did not plan for area dominance. A single rail gun could have made the difference save that they had no aerial support., nor beds on the ground.

Unfortunately, we can no longer respawn at the Cutty Red, need a Carrack or 600i to do that now.

The Cutty Red bed now isn't much better than the medgun now (can heal slightly worse wounds, but have to be able to get to it first.)

Yeap, Cutty is only good for healing, though, at least in the cutty you will keep your armor and personal equipment.

In the Carrack, you will respawn, but if the odds are against you, then you will respawn naked.
Better put some undersuits, armor and equipment in the Carracks personal inventory.

Not sure a rail gun would make a difference given the ships they saw. All in all, while they were present for a long time they were still ineffective as they were unable to acquire any of the drugs for profit.

Given the amount of damage the A2 is able to inflect, I would agree that Air support is critical and would suggest parking a Hammerhead over the station with gunners. While ships like the redeemer are impressive in their firepower they don't have enough shielding to tank and protect the ground recovery forces. Given the slow spawn rate of the drug packages and thus onsite time I would wonder if using a Spartan backed up against the door to allow the runners a great deal of protection and then just picking up the Spartan in a M2 when its time to disengage. In fact you could swap out Spartans and runners and continue to make round trips in the M2 so that you are not stacking up all the drugs in a single load with a higher risk of losing it all.

While stealth is great for forward observers or to secure a single package and dust off, it's going to take a more sizeable force to secure a contested point for an extended time period such as Jumptown to reap the riches it offers.

To add another layer of protection, the 'runners' can use tractor beams so they can stay mostly behind cover while moving just the boxes.

They were all using tractors. I watched another of theirs where they took complete control of the station for 6 hours. I think they scored 30 million. That is not a good score for about 60 man-hours of play. Getting the number of required players as low as possible is what makes this worth doing. Even if you got this down to 6 players it would not be an especially good score, but more fun that standard mission running.
