For the next week, we are unlocking the entire Origin 300 series for all backers to try out! This includes the following ships:

  • 300i
  • 315p
  • 325a
  • 350r

We hope you enjoy this opportunity to test drive Origin’s 300 lineup. Testing these ships will be extremely valuable. We know there are some stat discrepancies and we are working on it. We are excited as this is the first time a whole line of ships will be open to all backers. The 300 series can handle any of your space travel needs. The 300 Series by Origin Jumpworks!

It's unfortunate that they would do this while relative mode is still broken for keyboard & mouse users. It's going to leave a bad taste for the series for a lot of people when they can't even steer with a fixed reticle. :(

Is relative mode gimbal lock?
Essentially this, but more accurately reticle lock where your reticle stays at a fixed point regardless of your intended movement.

What's happening with the bug AKA "new feature" is whenever you try to go into relative mode using CTRL-C, it also targets the nearest enemy as C is the keybind for "target nearest enemy". But as of the last major patch, this also turns on ESP, which is the targeting system that was primarily introduced to help joystick users have steadier aim. For a few seconds, it severely limits your ships ability to pitch or yaw and for K&M users, this is a death sentence, especially when trying to race in relative mode.

The workaround for this is to move your keybinds around and try like hell to not target anyone while racing, but as soon as you do, your steering locks up and you crash into the nearest object. As you can imagine, this is quite infuriating. The devs are aware of the issue and are working on it, but I doubt we'll see it fixed while the 300-series test drive is in effect, which is, again, unfortunate.
