Here are config files for people that like to tinker with the settings and some that want to lower their graphics requirement.

Just place the file in your star citizen directory
(Root:/Program Files/Roberts Space Industries/LIVE)
-ingame graphics settings set to low is recommended for minimal input lag

Custom HIGH Settings: By Eiyron ( WARNING ! ! ! High hardware requirements )
http://www.mediafire.com/download/hhkgja1nfbu2htm/user.cfg
-Use ingame graphics low, medium, high, very high settings to enhance graphics quality
-Updated 8/24/2016

Default Settings: By Eiyron (Updated Patch 2.4)
http://www.mediafire.com/download/ggrvll1dg50awbi/user.cfg

Low Settings: By Eiyron (Updated Patch 2.4)
http://www.mediafire.com/download/62j3t9yuuidnr3o/user.cfg

Ultra Low: By Lex (For Older CPUs) (was good in SC patch 1.3)(Outdated)
https://lex.io/pub/starcitizen/ultralow_user.cfg
(Rename to user.cfg if it does not work)

----FOR CROSSFIRE/SLI USERS----

MAKE SURE YOUR PLAYING ON FULL SCREEN

Change r_multiGPU = 2 to r_multiGPU = 1
0 = Disabled
1 = FORCED
2 = AUTO

----AMD CROSSFIRE USERS----
Catalyst Control Center (CCC)
Manually Set SC to have a profile in you application settings

Make sure to use OPTIMIZE 1X1 Crossfire Mode
Turn ON FRAME PACING

---Game CPU Requirement---
These are just my rough estimates if there is no GPU bottleneck
Place of Reference ---- Defford Link - New Horizon Speedway.
(Why?? Because it has the most assets and its the most punishing map available.) - 2/6/2015

Benchmark List:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
CTRL + F to toggle the find function then input your CPU Model number or Partial model number.
ex:
Model Number ------------------------Full Name
4790K-----------------------(Intel Core i7-4790k)
1100T--------------------------(AMD Phenom II X6)
9590--------------------------(AMD FX-9590)

Low Settings @50-60fps -Intel
-Quadcore CPU
-CPU Multi thread benchmark 8000+
-CPU Single thread benchmark 2000+

Low Settings @50-60fps - AMD
-Octocore CPU
-CPU Multi thread benchmark 8000+
-CPU Single thread benchmark 1500+
-Possibly lower after the implementation of Mantle API

----My Test Rig (My point of reference)----
(2/6/2015)

Motherboard: MSI Z87-MGaming
Ram: 16GB DDR3 1333 7-7-7-21
GPU: ASUS HD 7870 2GB x2 (Crossfire)
PSU: 800 Watt
SDD: (5) 120Gb Kinston HyperX 530 Mb Read/Write (5 Drives on Raid 0 Config)

CPUs: Intel Core i3-4130 & Intel Core i7-4790K @ Stock Clocks

---Test Rig Framerates---
(Low Settings CFG - Frame Pacing Disabled - Frame Limit Disabled)
(New Horizon Speedway - Defford Link)
(2/6/2015)

on Spec: i3-4130

30-40 FPS
-- Enabling/Disabling Crossfire does not change the FPS
-- GPU only at 50% Utilization (single mode)
-- CPU Bottleneck

43-61Fps
--After Closing Background applications and Windows Task Scheduler Modifications
--Crossfire Does not affect output.
-- GPU Only at 80% Utilization (single mode)

on Spec: i7 4790K

51- 68Fps
(Single GPU)
-- GPU at 90 ~ 98% Utilization

65- 85Fps
(Dual GPU)
--GPU at 89 ~ 98% Utilization

dont go too crazy :p

If star citizen were to be released today, the hardware required to run it in all its glory does not exist as of today *not a perfect word per word quote*

If my 670 didn't crash with the DXGI error every 15 min I wouldn't upgrade anything till 2016. I underclocked my card and that helped a bit. I was told to then turn off Physx on the video card and that should help too.

I can play smoothly the swarm and the pvp, but for some reason the race is kinda laggy for me, I believe because of the fog. Will try to use this config. Does the LOW settings disable even more aspects than the game LOW? I mean, using this should be better than just setting LOW ingame, right?

The ultra low_user.cfg sounds interesting. (since I don't have the best graphics card at the moment) Is the config compatible with the latest patch? :-)
