I'm curious about the revenue CIG will make by this fighter concept sale. The earnings in December and January were very poor, compared to the years before. There sure are voice like "want to have", "must have" etc. But the "Star Cititzen fever" seems to heal, and the mood of the community is slowly altering from "excitement" to "expecting". So, if this concept sale fails, I wonder how CIG will react; what will Chris do? Lay his perfectionism aside and for once working goal orientied..?
They *have* to deliver 3.0 very short-termed, no matter what, otherwise I'm afraid, that this project could end in a great crash. And lots of laughing lawyers.
They now need a second revenue stream.

Short term that's S42 but like pop records there is an initial huge sales spike as the game rides advertising and hype, then once the interested parties have purchased sales die off and it slips down the charts to obscurity - the initial backers have already paid for it, the backers who joined when S42 and PU were no longer bundled will buy to have something to play and hype will pull in players who thought the pledge was a scam and hopefully that'll bring in dough - how much I dunno, as a million people have already bought it outright with their pledge.

Next I see the REC store becoming more like the Limited ship sales - SH and Sabre go on sale every other fortnight so you go a week with, a week without. If you like one over the other and want to fly it full time, dump some cash or GTFO until the game is finished and you can buy one with earned in-game credits.

A lot of the technical magic they have been working on could have been an earner for them, however with the issues the Cryengine company had a while back not paying staff etc it is questionable as to if there is going to be a Cryengine to be able to licence the improvements on... That could have been a BIG earner for Roberts but right now, from the perspective of a backer, it just looks like a waste of time and money when there is a game to be made.

They always said they had enough money to finish the game outright so this is a wait-and-see - we will definitely get S42 if nothing else.

That's an interesting take on the situation but one that has merit. The cashflow has always been a question of mine because as it's been pointed out, running three studios is not cheap, even for a multi-million dollar funded project.

I worry the sale tomorrow will not be a huge success. I am gathering very little hype for this ship from the community.

Chris said, that he has enough money for finishing the first episode of SQ42! Nothing more!

Same here. Thats the reason I'm interested in how CIG will react at the time they'll become aware, that there is no hype-train departure anymore by releasing frequent concept sales...

Its ironic to me that they may have enough cash to release something of S42 for which all those ships you have purchased will have no use and not appear. Lets be clear anyone who is speculative can have bought a game package for not that much money so unless Sq42 is really brilliant then it will not attract new punters and new cash. Maybe you all have friends who are on the fence actually waiting for a game but if all they will invest is one game package it will not change the finances that much. Even if sq42 is great they do not need a fleet of ships or even an upgrade to get everything out of it.

Money in, money out. I pray to God they manage it well enough to deliver the game they promise. I have faith.

does it seem odd to anyone else that the manned turret's gun is smaller than the fixed nose guns? (S3 vs S4)

Well, first thing to note is with a pair of S4 guns up front, you already have as much firepower at the pilot's command as any other ship I can think of. Fitted with a pair of BEHR C788 Ballistic Cannons, anything you can hit will die. Right away. The quad S1s are all frosting on the cake. If fitted with decent guns that turret ought to make this hit slightly harder than the SH.

If you want to do without frosting, I think putting the Hornet Tracker on this, especially if you can ghost it; might make this the to-die-for-I'm -mortgaging-the-house ship. Note it is already listing 4 equipment slots! 4!!!! You can put stuff in here! Well, not that kind of stuff. No cargo.

Shitty armor and shields. Glass cannon Don't get hit. If you love flying the light fighters defensively, this is your dream come true.

No S3 missiles. No surprise here.

Smaller than a Superhornet. It will fit in a Polaris and maybe even a Carrack.

Maybe slightly slower than a SH, but maybe more maneuverable too. It is very light and not all the stats are out. No max powerplant listed, but with smallish shields and ballistics, this should be able to be made about as stealthy as a Ghost Hornet.

Under additional equipment, the 4 equipment slots are filled in. The TARS Expedition sounds familiar. Is this from the Lancer DUR package? We need to know what these pieces of equipment are!!! Expect updates to the entire ships page soon.

Very Exciting! Could be long range dogfighter support for the Vanguard!

Standard model Hurricanes currently ship with six KBAR 11-Series Broadsword cannons (two gimbaled on the Size 4 nose hardpoints and four on the Size 3 turret slots)
Seems like default the 4!!! turret guns are the same as the 2 nose guns. If you want to use all guns together, the nose guns must be gimballed S3 or the nose guns may be fixed S4 and the turret must be gimbal locked.
So, if you use fixed nose guns then yes, the nose guns are bigger then the turret guns, but when hit by 4 "smaller" S3 guns, the effect will be devastating.

There are Game Packages available:

ANVIL HAMMER PACK LTI (1.571$; also available as reduced Warbond-Edition)
  • Anvil Hurricane
  • Terrapin
  • Anvil Crucible
  • Carrack
  • F7C-M Super Hornet
  • Gladiator
  • Lifetime Insurance
THE TORTOISE AND THE HURRICANE LTI (411$; also available as reduced Warbond Edition)
  • Anvil Hurricane
  • Terrapin
  • Lifetime Insurance

But the "save money - buy game package" times are over. Imho both packs are way overprized, compared i.e. with the explorer mega package of the GamesCom last year.
