I'm struggling to secure a job, and people don't seem to understand just how difficult that is.

I am indeed born Deaf.

As an aside, I just got a reply from the apartment complex my friend lives at, and they said that they cannot add me to his lease because the ownership group is being a bunch of fucking namby-pamby dumb fucks with no sense of humanity. And here I was hoping to keep housing off of my list of immediate concerns to deal with.

Great.
Ah yes, the American Legal system; Robbing companies of their humanity through the constant threat of lawsuits. If your friend is willing to let you crash, then fuck em. It would be rather difficult for a property owner to prove whether or not you are a permanent resident without considerable expense. There's no reason you should have to sleep in a dumpster.
(All legal advice provided by Han Burgundy is, by its very nature, irresponsible and reactionary. Individual results may vary)

Warning tuff love incoming.

Nkato, <3 you man, but part of the problem is that you spend a lot of energy complaining about video games and playing video games instead of hitting the pavement and finding work.

Sending resumes also isn't enough, you HAVE TO send follow up emails (since you're unable to do follow up calls), show up at offices with a smile/nicely dressed/clean and with large flash cards of positive things (NO DRAMA) of what you want to say, such... "I've a hearing disability. I'd love to work here! May I introduce myself to the hiring manager or team? May I get a tour of the facility to see what it's like working here?" Stuff like this, You need to stay positive when in front of people and in communication NO MATTER HOW depressed or upset or betrayed you feel. Career advancement and getting jobs is a huge percentage of getting the hiring manager/team or management to "have a good feeling" about you. Developing their trust, admiration, and appreciation because of both your skill sets/performance and what you're like when they interact with you. Even if they are FUBAR type of people. That's a big part of reality in the job market.. getting people to like/respect you. So this means acting/putting your guard up and putting on a fake face when on the job. I'm overgeneralizing a bit but this is the reality of the world we live in as far as in USA. Use street smarts.

You put your heart on your sleeve in Discord, I see it, others see it.... and we get that you're incredibly stressed. But your situation is not going to change unless you put in a hell of a lot more effort and get help where you can via the local and federal government.

I recently took a class at Devry (entry class) called Critical thinking and problem solving online... it's more about finding a career options that we're a right fit for based on our values, personality, morals, and skills. Lots of chapters dealt with this but 3 chapters dealt with targeting a job search, crafting resumes, and handling interviews. Here is some things from those chapters which may be of help:

That's just a small portion from the chapter on targeted job searching, if you decide you want to read more, let me know Nkato, I'll PM you the rest.

Some of this sounds interesting. Go ahead and PM it to me.

It's pretty clear that it's extremely difficult for me to "play the game". I am far too honest for that. I am trying, though.

20 resumes out and you have heard from 2?

Last time I was unemployed I sent out 250 applications and only ever heard back from 4 companies. And got 2 interviews.

Its hard for everone, but you gotta keep on it.
Working on it. Right now my priority is absorbing the information for my exam this Thursday. If I flunk that and don't get my machinist certificates, the appeal of myself as an employee machinist goes down.

Additionally, there's also trying to find a place to live... :\ I have to move out in 15 days. 15. And I have not succeeded in securing a place to live.

When I was searching for my first job after university and out of placement, with 2 years of internship in huge companies, I sent over 600 applications. I had 3 replies and 1 interview. And that was before the fuckin economy collapsed.

People do understand how difficult it is because everyone is going through it. It doesn't make your case or any others "special". We are all in the same shit.

I feel your pain about getting a job and best of luck to you.
But after bein in test for a while... I've noticed you are difficult to talk to, easily triggered over nothing, the topic has to be what you want or else people are "rude" or insulting you, you use inflammatory language, you call people morons and idiots all the time, and in general you make me stop reading chat.

I feel you use the Deaf disability as an excuse to justify your unruly and adolescent behavior many times. Eventually you become the boy who cried wolf.

Good, just do more than you're doing now to find work, and keep pushing yourself as if it's exercising to be in shape for state championships or a title fight. I PM'd you the ebook with 12 chapters.

Thank you. I'll read up on it this weekend after I've completed my machinist exams. I also need to get around to updating my LinkedIn...

you didn't send a resume to me. I would have set up an 'interview' immediately.
