TESTies, what you grab between your legs can be the most important tool for playing Star Citizen. Your choice of controls can be the choice between life and death. HOTAS, Dual Stick, KB+M, or that sick mouse stick hybrid that lets you claim that you fly stick when you still stab people in the back with your gimbal flying mouse skills.

What I bring to you today is news about a stick that I don't see people talking about. Everyone and their mom can have a T16000 M. It's affordable, effective, accurate, tested, and cheap. The only problem is that it doesn't have a lot of buttons but it's one of the few ambidextrous sticks out there. People who are serious about dual sticks sometimes upgrade to the Warthog. It's better than the T16000 M in most ways but costs an arm and a leg. If you need a left handed Warthog, there are very few ways to get one and all of them cost more than a pair of lungs on the black market.

The news that I bring to you today is news about a stick that has both left and right handed versions but only costs both of your arms: the MongoosT-50

Featuring a wide array of controls, including:
  • 1 x Dual-stage Trigger
  • 1 x Folding Trigger
  • 5 x Buttons
  • 3 x 4-way Hats
  • 1 x 2-position Switch
  • 1 x Analog Brake Lever
There is no twist on this joystick because these people are more about the sim flight experience, but that never stopped some of the Warthog people from getting theirs. But just look at all of those buttons. There's a pinky button on the bottom of the handle for you to use as a shift key, which would double all of the other buttons for your thumb on the top. There's 2 triggers. You can fricken assign all 4 weapon groups for your ships if you wanted to or assign them to useful emoticons like flipping the other person off while flying. I'm no Russian, but this thing looks Russian. Just look at the design! I like it...

Offering completely tunable axes, 3 spring types are included:
  • Aerobatic (light)
  • Standard (medium)
  • Hardcore (heavy)
Also included are 3 different cams:
  • Hard center
  • Soft center
  • No center



I've been looking all over the internet for something like this so that I could have 2 identical sticks with lots of buttons that I could use in game. I've been using the CH sticks but they aren't that comfortable for me. I recently bought the T16000 Ms to compare and I like how they feel much more than the CH sticks but there's just not enough buttons. I'll be saving up and getting these two soon. I'll update this thread once I test them out.

Hopefully everyone either already knew about this or is now informed about their additional joystick options. I know that Montoya already knew. He's so wise and knows everything, though he sometimes holds back his knowledge until the time is right to reveal the true answer.

Looks nice.. but,... I currently have dual T 16000 Ms and with Voice Attack I have 10 buttons on each stick that are unused!
But those Virpil sticks do look sweet.

True: these sticks are expensive and around $340 each. This makes them a little more expensive than a warthog. Just like buying anything, if you don't need them or if there's something better out there for you, then go with that. The T16000 M is a great stick, but it's not enough for me. I don't want to have to let go of my sticks to input commands and I speak rather slowly.

Whenever I'm in a stressful situation, I stop talking. Not because I'm trying to be quiet, but because I cannot speak. My brain just doesn't let me say much of anything. This is mostly why my voice attack trials are going poorly. When I need voice attack the most, I lack the ability to use it. I didn't really notice this until after I tried using voice attack, ha. I told some of my friends and they agreed. It's weird.

So I'm stuck with wanting more buttons and these sticks have a LOT of buttons. So does my keyboard, but I'm looking to make this game even more fun for myself.

Do not get these if you cannot afford them. I've got an Idris, a Polaris, and lots of the industrial ships and I'm still having to save up for these, ha.

twice as expensive, but the base with gimbal are way better, adjustable cams, like the Crosswind has.
The biggest problem for me would be that I have to rebuild my pit. Due to the height, my arms would go up instead of level. By placing the base lower, the stroke would be much more, leaving no room for the G13 and keyboard. A bigger stroke means finer controls. The gimbals however would be a fine upgrade for the plastic Warthog gimballs, if there is a Warthog adapter.

I spent about £80 ($100?) on an X52 about 3 years ago, it is still going strong (one button does not work on the throttle anymore) despite 100's of hours maybe even a thousand of use. Its got 30+ programmable inputs and a twist for rudder.
For the price of the T50 just buy several X52's, in one go in case any break over the years.
In fact that is a good idea I may buy another two and leave them boxed in the cupboard.
Right handers only though

I have it programed for Elite and SC, in fact many of the buttons are programed for the same thing. IE Chaff, boost

Virpril have long been known to the dcs community and are extremely good for mimicking Russian aircraft. However anything other than that and they are just too expensive and too specific. The T1000m takes the cake at the moment for best dual stick loadout

I'm not sure the Mongoost is compatible with a Warthog base, only a few buttons and levers work "simpler", like the pinky lever, on the VPC base it works analog, on the Warthog base it works digital. If the Warthog also works good on a VPC base... I have to check that.
The whole base costs more than a complete Warthog, but I don't doubt that the base is worth it's price. When my gimbals start to get worn out, it will be my next upgrade.
I already had to disasemble my righthand flightstick due to a "beer" accident, poured it right into the gimbal :flushed:, now my stick is "beer lubricated". I noticed some wear down of rubber ring. I have the right Warthog for a little bit longer then 1 year now. Probably I use the sticks extensively.
