I got the Talon.
- i already have the MIS has a missile boat
- If it really is a "stealth fighter" locking on your target with those missiles might take awhile. With the talon you can lock on, shot and run away before the target even recognized whats going on. (Yeah backers dreams aren't they cute)

I expect roughly 1300 - 1500 dps with a fixed loadout
And ~700-1000 dps with the gimbal setup

I think if I were to go for the Shrike I'd want an entire wing to fly together, and we don't know how many NPC escorts one can have yet. That's 112k damage per ship, or over half that of an Eclipse, but can be targeted at any medium, large or cap ship; whereas S9 torps are really only good against Large and Cap. These would seem much faster and perhaps as stealthy, but lacking the range of the Vanguard.

Has anyone seen S3 missiles working against light fighters?

Im curious what kind of DPS these guns will put out.

Light fighters like the arrow do around 1000dps. This being an alien high-tech fighter, it should do a bit more.
Promo state for 2x S3 gimble, this mean an orginal S4 hardpoint (????) like the Khartu-Al so that could be a nice clue for the DPS it can output...
2x Ravenant are for 1344 but you can push it with 2x Salvation distporsion scattergun for a 19874 distortion damage....

If the Talos is aimed for being an esport for the Prowler the distortion loadout is preatty impressive, I bet two of this can easily soft a large target electronics and prepare them for boarding without any afford.... scary...

I think Im leaning to Talon just because my Freelancer MIS is already the missile boat.
This. The MIS has other options once it's shot its (missile) load. Talon can stay in the fight far longer. Shrike is a one-trick pony (but it is a good trick, I admit!).

Interested to read as well as the shield comments it has enhanced armour. Only remaining question is, how well will it manoeuvre? As a light fighter, it should be pretty nimble and the bane of medium sized ships with slower turn-rates (unless covered in turrets..).

I'm assuming no amount of retro-fitting and playing with parts will let you switch one to the other.

From the image of the concept it also seams that, while carrying 32 missile, it will be able to fire only 2 of them at the same time: side pod looks like a mag-feed missile launcher rather then a missile system similar to, for example, the Constellation one that present multiple missile rail ready to fire.
Don't think this will limit the amount of missile you can lock on a target, but the actual fire rate could be negative effected.

Yep, all speculation is that the Talon is developed like the Ares is: two similar chassies but with differences that make the loadout not interchangable beteween the two variants

DPS isn't the only thing that matters. You also must be able to consistently hit to reach that DPS. Gatings work better fixed, since they have a high fire rate. Better have a part of your low alpha damage bullets hit then have all of your high alpha damage bullets miss.

Gattlings also have a higher speed to target, so they're less likely to miss than the higher damage cannons. Cannons are really meant for bombers attacking hard to miss targets (Harbinger attacking a cap ship, etc.)

I just woke up & can't find my wallet, but I can't afford to purchase at the moment anyways.

Couldn't decide which one, thinking is hard! Blacked-out. Woke up with double pack, and smoking wallet. Please advise.
My advice is that it sounds like you're having an interesting start to your day & can use a good drink my friend. Cheers!

Its likely these are the same weapons from the Prowler turret.

I had a long hard think about this.

Missiles are just big self guided self detonating fireworks, aren't they? I went and asked at the local shop and they said they were not allowed to sell them to people under the age of 18 and as I have generally not mentally passed the age of 14...

Plus I saw this video which clinched it:

Yeah went for the Talon Pew version. If I got the Shrike I'd probably hold on to one of the missiles for too long and blow my fingers off, or keep them in my pockets or something.
