I just realized something. Demolition Man, 1993 sci-fi movie set in year 2032, already predicted many things, including self-driving cars, video conferencing, voice-activated technology and touch-screen tablets.

But there is another correlation between the fiction and year 2020...: in the movie, all skin-to-skin contact has been outlawed -- sex, kissing, handshakes, tight hugs, and even high-fives were a thing of the past. As main female character Officer Lenina Huxley says, physical interaction was banned after a "series of illnesses and diseases ravaged the health of mankind".

Sounds familiar, doesn't it...? ; )

/ By the way, Sandra Bullock's character, San Angeles Police Department Officer Lenina Huxley, was named after Brave New World novel's author, Aldous Huxley, and the book's main character, Lenina. Disease has always been there, it is simply about control or a theory of higher evolution, where political correctness has run amuk. My friends and I compare how we lived when we were kids to our kids today. We chuckle because the kids today are so detached and protected.

Yes, but where's the mad rush to buy out all the sea shells? Where are the online posted photos of people with piles of sea shells in the background? Where are the youtube videos showing fights over the last single package of sea shells in the store? It didn't predict that one now did it...

I love that you posted this because I've been thinking about how a lot of restaurants are suffering now and some closing their doors for good.

Perhaps Taco Bell will be the only one to come out of this intact.
