That Alex guy banging on about stuff he doesn't understand (but acts like he does) annoys the hell out of me.

Thanks Montoya... was a good discussion. I've got to say I have put probably 20 hours in the game in the last two weeks. There is so much for people to do now... and people aren't out flying around PO because there is nothing to do. Yes, there are problems, and I do think the game has taken to long (SQ42), but I also realize back in the day 2013/2014, CR was ignorant - he is a creative and sometimes when creatives guide the path things get a little messy. Now he has the engineers driving, so I expect everything to be a little more linear and organized. Time will tell, but I am having fun with it now that I can live in my Carrack... been in the same ship without a claim for about a week now.

To be fair, I believe the reference to NMS was about that game's release controversy and the firestorm it caused (which I thought was way over the top FFS). In that Other Joe was thinking the game would release but not be everything that was promised just like NMS.
It seems to me though that AJ gets it and the other guys are there just as a hype train or devil's advocate.
And love him or hate him, AJ's reviews are typically spot on IMO.

It is occasionally painful to watch people judge others based on their own misconceptions. To the extent where I'd want to slap them around with a large trout.
They talk about it as if it's a cash grab, but it can't be a cash grab if the cash is going into development, like promised. I did check, and Cloud Imperium Games is not paying any dividends to investors as far as I can tell, and the only costs listed in financial statements are development, admin and marketing, and the marketing is small enough that it's probably investor money, but even if it isn't I'm not that upset about it as it's a very reasonable figure when compared to the development costs.
And scam? Now I want to equip two trouts. A scam that's actually producing us a pretty fine game that we're already playing for hundreds of hours, that involves investors and 600 employees... if that's a scam then rather than being mad for falling for it, I'd be pretty darn impressed at the sheer dedication for the long con.

I actually visited New Babbage with my starfarer a couple weeks back and, with much difficulty coz I didn't have an inventory large enough to store it, dragged Pico the penguin to sit on my captain's table. Even though I failed a few landings at Lorville, ATC trolling hard as always, I haven't had to do any claims for a long time (my ship just went straight to storage in Lorville, guess there is some temporary "we know it's too hard so we'll just put that away for ya" -measure in place there) and the Pico is still happily sitting on my captain's table. Kinda happy about that.
