Alright my TESTies, I dunno if these lads are any of ours, but if they aren't, they need to be!

Also, where are the Scotch people here? I'm currently developing my Scotch taste. Let's chat.

Back in the 70s some time... it was before Star Wars - my father made me get drunk on some scotch to "teach me a lesson". I learned two things. Actually wasn't scotch exactly, it was Drambuie which might explain the outcome. Anyway what I learned was:
1. I like scotch.
2. Don't make a 12 year old kid drink scotch to teach him a lesson. He might like it.

I recently polished off a bottle of Woodford Reserve bourbon, which my wife bought me for my birthday. Not Scotch, but still impressive.

Honestly, after my fraternity being-hazed-days, I didn't think I was a hard alcohol drinker outside of the occasional margarita.

But this Woodford was just so light, smooth, and easy to drink that it changed my perspective. Far lighter (and of course, more potent) than drinking a beer.

I'll look up a good Scotch on my next run. What do you recommend?

I went through an extensive scotch evaluation seminar that lasted for almost 2 minutes. I asked a colleague with a well known drinking problem to recommend some different scotch whiskeys, and his answer was "only the single malts, idiot". So these are my favorite single malts:

Glenmorangie

Macallan

Glenfiddich

Glenlivet

There are all kinds of uppity taste testing on you tube, but I only know that the single malts seem a little smoother than their blended counterparts, with the notable exception of Johnnie Walker Blue Label, which is smooth and delicious, and actually more expensive than the single malts.

the booze is Scotch, the people are Scots or Scottish
Hahhaah, dunno if you're trolling me or being serious. But just in case, I was typing as I would speak, ie, "are there any beer people here?"

I've been sampling by region. So far I am an Islay lover. I love the smokey/peaty flavor. Bowmore is fantastic. Ardbeg is a little more pricey, but is also amazing. Highlands are great, and probably the most numerous. I've only tried one Lowland so far, the to Auchentoshan (red bottle), and it was quite smooth. Speysides are my least favourite so far (Glenlivet) but are still amazing. I have yet to find a Campbeltown.

Mmmmmmm, I've tried a couple Glenlivets, and the Glenmorangieis fantastic.

visitied scotland three years ago, made some destillery tours. I'm not much into "turf" or heavily smoked whiskys.

What i tried:
Original Glenmorangie (10 years i think) is good, a little light sometimes 4/5 good price
Try Glenmorangie Nectar Dor or Quinta Ruban port if you want a slightly different more complex taste

Arbalour non chill filtered 12 years 4.5/5
Ardmore 30 years a little pricy but totally worth it 5/5
Laphroaig 16 years 4.5/5
Glenfiddich 8 years an absolute classic 4/5
Lagavulin too much smoke for my taste still drinkable 3/5
Ardberg also very smokey 3/5

probably forgot some ... idk why

I shall try this!
I'll just take a straight shot of maple syrup since I'm allergic to alcohol. I'm probably the easiest person to poison.

I'm in TEST squadron to lower the average blood alcohol percentage so we can have another drink before going over the limit.

So many fine drinks that I cannot have (more than once). I shall have to find the greatest drink of all for my deathbed. It's going to be difficult to narrow down.

Don't worry, maple syrup is good straight up, or you can even mix it in coffee or milk or ice cream. If you use milk, try that with a dash of nutmeg.

You should try this, I know the english on the bottle says rum, they were always selling it in the bars over there as scotch or whisky. I promise it will do nothing bad to you.......
