you can pick up a bunch of $0 CCU's to and from the Vanguard / redeemer *edit its a pain in the ass, but if you just fill your cart up with to and from CCU's, you can set each to 5 before check out. I am not sure if i would take a Merchantman over a Hull for cargo, but its a option I can take...

its alot of bang for buck compared to other ships thats for sure. With the internal cargo hold being so big, I could haul a full load of fuel + repair materials for Crucibles to use for ship repairs
