    Coronavirus COVID-19 Thread

https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.abc.net.au/article/12913756 It’s now 3 days of no new cases, no deaths from Covid, and no active Covid in Victoria. We’re testing waste water to watch for anything that hasn’t been detected because people are asymptomatic. Retail has reopened, small business...

Masks are still mandatory and there are still restrictions on how many people can be in one location. It's helping.

Here in Vic we’re now at 8 days with no positive test results and later today we will hopefully be hearing about the next stage of reopening. This has been really hard on business and I don’t think there’s a clear picture of what the true cost of lockdown has been. This is the most concerning...

No new cases of local transmission recorded today country-wide. Surprisingly this news was not met with riots or threats of violence at the loss of personal freedom to contract a horrible disease and prove how tough we are...

    Coronavirus COVID-19 Thread

I think we have a fundamental opposition in how we approach this and that could well be cultural. The government we elect as Australians, which is funded by our money, is primarily concerned for our public safety. There is an economic impact to this, we're very aware of how dire that is, but...

    Coronavirus COVID-19 Thread

We’ve done that here in Vic and life is getting back to normalcy. Most of Australia has been open for months because testing rates are high, contact tracing is effective, and people are wearing masks. living with the virus means jumping on outbreaks quickly so we don’t have exponential growth...

    Coronavirus COVID-19 Thread

The point is that we get numbers down to a point where we can contact trace effectively and isolate the infected. I think you're approaching this as if the end of uncontrolled spread is inevitable and that's not accurate. AU, Singapore, and NZ have shown that.

I’m not sure what your sources are but no, there’s not violence in the streets. That said, this shit is hard to crush. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-10-28/city-locked-down-for-three-months-has-bleak-lesson-for-the-world We can always make more money. We can’t replace people.
