Vanguard on Microtech, decoupled ; )

This video demostrates impact of the lift and drag on the ship in atmosphere, with assistance mode (coupled) disengaged. In 3.10 there is no auto-hover in decoupled -- ship goes down if it's not moving.

Great vid. Thanks! So for the Vanguard, would your suggestion be to learn to toggle decoupled on/off regularly for different maneuvers? Hovering seems important and cool.

I've been always flying in mixed coupled-decoupled mode, and I highly recommend it, even in 3.10 -- as I mentioned, there is no longer a fake auto-hover in decoupled; ships are descending at lower speed and falling down when not moving forward. But at the same time, some ships perform better in atmosphere in decoupled mode -- it's like turning ESP off in the car -- you're turning the stability controls off, but you may make turns at higher speeds, etc. ; )
