So I plan on picking up a flight simulation chassis but I have never been inclined to look at them before recently. I have seen some pretty nice setups of people using Volair, Playseat, and Obutto. I am in the $600-$1000 range and am really looking for ease of use and reliability/stability, advice from people that have some experience with these products would be greatly appreciated.

I think we all saw that playseat one recently that looks very impressive.

Obutto has been the standard, lots of people use that with no complaints.

It comes down to the peripherals and extras, like keyboard tray, mousepad and other attachments where is gets expensive.

Here's some more for you.. of cause you need to figure out how far you want to take it and what you really need only you can decide.

And most of this rigs come from simracing but do have additional use as flight sim rigs, there are tons more, I'm just listing the most popular not including the already mentioned.

What do you want to fly? Larger planes use a yoke, which is very like a steering wheel and goes in center like a wheel. Smaller planes use a stick, wich can be located by your hand, so you don't need a gizmo to hold it front and center and can put your keyboard there.

Depends what you are trying to simulate, so if you're not driving and flying only, stick might be better.

I like this, if you're handy. If you're really handy there are ways of building something similar out of wood and metal too, so you can get whatever look you want, and the ability to transform it into a piece of attractive office furniture if you need. The 3 monitors idea is cool and all but for this kind of thing I'd take an extra look at the Samsung QLED monitor. Depending on available funds. And how silent your wife gets, or whether she starts shaking her head or something. And the age of the kids. And... oh I know I forgot something...
