Sup TESTies.

I'm seeing a distinct lack of (open) love for pirates, especially all these Bounty Hunters and Escort pilots getting organized.

So, let's raise that Black Flag boys, and get a roll call.

I, AntiSqueaker, do declare myself a corsair, a freebooter, a buccaneer, a scallywag, raider, marauder, and pirate. Who's with me?

Also, I've been brainstorming some names for a pirate "blanket" group name, since we will probably have a chunk of smaller squadrons covering different regions of space, rather than a more cohesive unit (although I could be very wrong about that).

I'm particularly fond of "TEST PALS": Private Asset Liberation Squadron.

So, fellow pirates, (and those interested in the idea!), let's chat about what you want to loot, how you want to do it, and why you think piracy sounds awesome!

Also welcome are Assassins (aka Bounty Hunters minus Morality and Legality), Smugglers, and other riff-raff.

EDIT:

Just to say that this is an entirely optional "group", although I think it's more of just us pirates talking. You can be a full fledged member of any TEST pirate squadron and leave to join other squads (pirates or no) at your leisure. Additionally, I am not in charge of TEST piracy in any way, shape or manner. This thread is to collect and gauge interest and ideas for TEST members interested in piracy.

I have a BMM that i'm waiting to paint black and fly a flag from. I think PALS is an awesome name. I'll try to think of some others, just for, you know, options...

Got Hornet Ghost for said outings.

Want to escort patrons across a system, to protect them from random vanduuls and unsavory sorts who want to take advantage of them ... for a small price of course, heck might even get repeat customers!

I don't know if many people are ready to say they are going full pirate yet. There are not too many details about what we can expect in that career path. Some games really screw their pirates, giving them all the infamy without any benefits. From what I can tell there is a social system to this game so we do know us pirates will likely become kos in high sec space, so, its not the best occupation for those of us who want to trade.
It would be good to know what resources pirates will have accessible to them. For instance what can we expect from the pirate asteroid bases, will they all be player controlled, thus putting us in the hands of the more powerful pirate orgs, or will there be npc bases allowing for smaller more independent pirate crews . . . . ?
I plan on making my money through exploration and pirating so I plan on spending the majority of my game time in low sec space on both of my charters, so one way or another I am all in.

With current knowledge my favorite kind of pirating would be to search for unescorted or lightly escorted cargo ships -> get there with my MIS -> lock, I dunno, say 10-20 missiles to them -> demand as much cargo as I can stuff in my MIS (or half of the cargo at the most if they have small load, I'm them reasonable pirates after all) -> if they agree, all good -> if not, blow them to space dust. But we'll see how it comes out in the end. Might have to adjust that according to game mechanics.

I think more profit could be gained by doing the kind of piracy where you have this big company with specific roles and many ships attacking heavily defended convoys then boarding and seizing the ships altogether. But that sounds like lot of effort and coordination and planning and I'm more of a seizing the opportunity kind of pirate. Might be fun with a right team, though, so I'm not saying no to that either.

Nkato raised a point in the chat that pirating in high-sec space could end up being bad for TEST as a whole (if we get somekind of outlaw/terrorist status as an org). And depending how the reputation system works it might be especially bad for individual characters. I'm cool with just pirating in low-sec space, but we'll see when more is told about the mechanics.

We already have a pirate division. Its test 404th.
I thought the 404 was some kind of recon/stealth division?
I ran a search on the forums. I don't see anything about the 404th being presented as a squad in any capacity for TEST Squadron in Star Citizen. The only thing I distinctly remember about the 404th is that it's being used as a training squadron in Falcon BMS.

http://www.reddit.com/r/test404th

In addition to that, I remember the 404th is running an ArmA 3 Insurgency server.

But any searches I run on the TEST Squadron forums turns up nothing that actually describes what TEST 404th will be in Star Citizen. This is the problem, and the reason why I didn't include it in the resource list of squad interest threads.

I think the 404th was being bandied around as our "black ops" group, with the joke being 404: Squad Not Found
