Come one CIG, new concept for me to drool over. I haven't melted and rejigged my fleet in like, weeks or something.

Thoughts on what our next gem will be? One of the briefly mentioned concepts from last years CitCon?
Yep, probably. If there was a more combat oriented one among those (can't remember what any of those were lol), than I'd bet on that as it's probably gonna get made first cos SQ42, so they'll drop it in PU as well.

I can get behind this. I'm loving this whole "straight to flight ready" thing CIGs been doing for the past bit with some ships. Also, I'd rather have tangible news on SQ42 than anything. Good God I cannot wait to play that!

I'm still waiting for that Xi'an hauler. Supposed to be around 300SCU which I can attest as a Starfarer pilot is a decent amount of space. If it were just a cargo hold and ship around it that's going to be not too big a ship, not to small. Sounds just right. I mean... I can't afford one, especially not with the Alien Tax, but I am still waiting for it :)

There are some ships you may not of been aware of that were mentioned at CitizenCon too, on the 2nd Stage they were talking about future concept ideas and they showed 4 they have been working on. Though they are currently unnamed or they didn’t share their names:

1 – A Ground Mining Vehicle for 1-2 players, allowing you to carry an extended inventory, mined loot, as well as being able to mount a mining laser itself and detect minables.

It was kind of a buggy with a drill attached.

2 – Xi’an Cargo Ship for a small crew with around 300 SCU in cargo to compete with the Hull B / Freelancer MAX. Not a favorite of mine BUT I do see the need to flesh out a set of ships for each race. I am sure it will have some form of querk as well that makes it unique.

3 – Tevarin Light Fighter intended to be an Escort Fighter for the Prowler. Advanced Shields, 2x S4 Mounts, reasonably stealthy and with a small profile the ship concept silhouettes looked amazing. Interesting Fighters to flesh out the Races are important and the Tevarin are cool bird samurai.

4 – Starter Refinery Ship, one person & living quarters, uses tractor beams to grab and refine. You can use it with a mining ship like the Prospector or Mule to then turn your unrefined materials into a smaller amount of refined more valuable ones. This seemed to be the ship that was most popular with the audience. I can certainly see it being very useful for mining operations that are not easily able to access a refinery station, it also will save you a lot of funds potentially as you won’t need to pay for a station to refine it for you."

Completely with you on that one, I think with the success of straight to flight ready we're going to be seeing more and more of those.

Would be super cool to be able to fly it to a surface and do mining, but there's already enough mining crap in game and the nodes spawns so far apart that going between them would suck. As the Carrack can't detect nodes (stupidly) you'd need a whole second ship just to scan.

Xi'an ships would be awesome! But we have enough haulers right now as well since all we can do in game is haul and mine.

I like the Prowler, but not to own, it's too big and I don't care for the drop pod feature. I'd be very happy with this ship if the 2xS4 are gimballed or they improve fixed weapons to be usable. I love S4 guns, they're beastly, but nothing can have them on gimbals without being a huge ship.

This ain't happening. If it needs a tractor beam then they'd have to suddenly throw tractor tech into 3.10 and at that point you'd be able to push salvage, repair, and a host of other things in. I have a feeling we won't see salvage until after Pyro.

OMG NO! Soooo tired of ships that we won't see for 8 years! Give us a shiny new flight ready ship!

.. and heaven knows CIG would never release a ship that wasnt feature complete <cough cough Reclaimer cough Vulcan cough cough Crucible> ...

I hope its not another combat ship, I think we have enough, I also would like to see the mothball concept ships being addressed, some of these ships were announced in 2013/2014 and nothing.

My prediction on next concept is a Origin science based ship not an exploration ship but pure science, just a wishful guess though!

I will take anything at this point but another combat ship, tired of everything being driven by SQ42 lol.

Medium sized Origin ship is what I think they hinted at.

Thing is, Origin has a pretty full lineup already, we dont really need another one from them.
I would love an Origin ship in the Freelancer/Cutlass class.

Not really satisfied with either. Cutlass is too squishy for me and the Freelancer looks like a penis!

Totally agree, I am surprised we haven't seen anything from Consolidated Outland, not sure why but would definitely like to see the other manufacturers getting more concepts.

That said, I've got one. Freelancers are brilliant.

An origin ship in that size class would be ace... But i've said it before and i'll say it again: If it's ugly, I'll cry like a child.
