The irony is that 13 years on from the original aurora vid - we still cant customise our ship to exactly how we want it they've delivered literally none of the modularity that the game was originally based around - just keep buying new ships all with slightly different purposes and specifications. Very disappointing when you think about it. Modularity and customisation are the two things that literally EVERY star citizen wants and needs.

meh... not sure I'll like it...
The ship itself looks nice and seams to have some interesting feature, but I'm not so sold to the fact that is branded as an "aurora".
The aurora is the very definition of starting ship: small with practically no amenities and deadly cheap to buy, both cash but more important in game, this is a line up of ship that cost as cheap as 400k a price that is perfectly reachable by a possible future non-ship player account... this one doesn't seams so basic to me.

I feel CIG is doing what a lot a car manufacturer are doing these days: get a well know model brand and slap it on a car that has nothing to do with the philosophy that drive the success of the initial models.
A revamped auora is a nice thing, but this ship fell a little to much away from the original concept for my taste,

In this post I talk about rework. . . SO..!
TAKE NOTE! ( rework of ingame ships vehicle or gear etc.. is not a MK1 to MK2.. MK2 is total new version hence why they are sold as such )

OK! let's go through this...

No you do not lose the old ships, pack, gear or any other in game physical object in your buyback..
Only thing that change in your buyback is upgrade prices as they follow current prices..
( some upgrade can become inactive as greyed out... upgrade explained later, read on..)
So....!
Any ship, pack, module, paint, gear, weapon you might have in buyback remain at purchase day price,
Example I got first version Mustan Beta MK1 bought back in 2016 before they reworked the original model still MK1 but touched up and fixed bugs...
This is still in my buyback for original price I payed back then, that will not change. . . But if I buy it back now I get the reworked and touched up fixed Mk1 version of it.
SC-mustang Beta2016.png

Here is the OG 315p still in my buyback that ship does not even exist in the game only the reworked model does..
if I buyback that I get the new reworked version instead but for the price I payed for it back then..
SC-315P OG version.png

Here is the OG Cutlass Black stil at same price in my buyback but I do not get the OG as it does not exist in the game any more I get the new reworked version.
SC-Cutlass Black.png

Same with anything you payed for with real money or credits are still in your buyback.
Example I got 3 different price point version of 890 jump in buyback, the OG price, first bump up price and last bump up price, tho this ship have not gone through any major rework yet.
Ship will still be in buyback for the price you purchase and if they do a rework you get that version.

TAKE NOTE! ( rework of ingame ships vehicle or gear etc.. is not a MK1 to MK2.. MK2 is total new version hence why they are sold as such )

This also apply for old not available packs, modules, paint, gear, weapon and any other object in game you might have in buyback and or rework of them they will be in buyback.
Exception with modules etc.. if they are removed totally from in game as OG plan for them is no longer in game those will be greyed out or removed in buyback..
That does not include reworked of still in game vehicle, ships, gear etc.. etc.. they still are in your buyback.

Exception as mention is upgrades in buyback follow current ship prices between them and
if a A to B ship change from B to A ship in price that upgrade will be greyed out, as you can not downgrade.
If price on ship A and B change then the upgrade price change with it.

Hope this clear up some misconception about buyback

CHEEERS!

Holy Cow! You know what this means? Probably we'll be flying Aurora Mk IV's the day SC releases ha ha
They'll remake all the ships as Mk II's first and then call it Star Citizen 2 before delaying it because it's a new game and it needs polishing again.. Oh and it'll need new pledges.. With a jacked up price, then tell us to be thankful we got it cheaper earlier.. Even though it's software?

Then they'll Mk III it in 2035 and rinse repeat ;) money glitch

Edit: gosh I just got a letter through the door it's a CIG Marketing job offer

Edit2: it says salary is currently being polished so they'll have to pay me in exposure... Exposure to what?

Edit3: Just received a photo from CR himself.. It looks like.. Uhhhh.. A freelancer?

Edit4: nop that's a penis

Edit5: Watched Montoyas video after I made my comment and his positivity makes me still hope for this game and I feel kinda bad now.
...
Do you think my GTX 780 Ti is enough to run Star Citizen still?

I like it. I know Chris wants it nice since it represents his name. I would rather they had spent time giving us the Crucible or some such but I do like it. I would not fly it. I prefer the 315P. Players still have not learned their lessons about speed, stealth and range in a daily driver.

It's a great point - especially range in a game of 100+ eventual star systems.

Sure.
In 640*480 no problem!
Considering Wing Commander ran at 320*200 thats still an improvement, right?

Dying without even getting off the ground is peak Test
Well the MKII is kinda a deathtrap. I died from instant explosion from a meteorite looking at me in a funny way. I swear we didn't even touch. And I was in 3rd person, so I'm pretty sure about that.

I can recall once upon a time, I was planning to swap engines. . .
Well, I'm still waiting for the option to tune mine...

I believe though they put that one in

It would explain the spontaneous explosions of my Aurora MKII.

PS: Love the fact that the Aurora MKII sticks to the price range of the MKI . Without the modules, admittedly.
Cheap livetime insurance if you still need one.
And right now the best starter pack you can get for little money.

Lumen by lumen, the people of Stanton have been looking on with apprehension as their home star dims bit by bit. Local economies have been sent into disarray, forcing ArcCorp's distilleries to burn the midnight oil in order to keep up with swelling demand. Luxury liners travel through the black with no music, as all the disk jockeys have already been contracted and spoken for. One cannot find a single double dog gracing the warming rack of their favorite kel-to, because all of the system's meat is sizzling on a series of black and yellow grills...

Whether it be for war or for fun, Montoya's auroras will blot out your sun.

Imma keep my Aurora as is 'cause I'm an OG Citizen, by Golly!

if the Mk II turns out to be a better light fighter than my Mustang I'll buy one
Not sure about better light fighter, maybe, but it is a better ship for sure - in terms of interior, storage, cargo, modularity, etc.

Gotta keep an SE if It’s a one time sale collectors item.

The new Aurora MK2 is cool in how the wings fold to mimic an MK1 but unfold like a past fan suggestion.

Not sure what I will be doing with them other than blotting out the sun.

...... line 'em up in the hangar of you soon to be bought battlecruiser?
Fly them over the Denmar Desert and stir up Valacar for some Dune cosplay?
Outfit it with Strife Mass Drivers and make those Arrows wonder where that Alpha damage came from and how you hit them as they where zipping around like a WoW Hunter on speed?
Find that black and yellow livery that CIG seems to have forgot to supply?
So many things to do...
