Playing SC, quantum jump to Arccorp.
All the sudden PC cuts out, then back on but now fans at high speed (vacuum) and no video, no boot.
Preliminary investigation points to it being the graphics card. I unplugged it and powered back on, fans at normal speed and appears to be booting.

Sigh

So I currently am running Alienware x51 R3 with I7 and gtx 970.

Question is since it is nigh impossible to find a 970, should I get 1080(also hard to find), 1080ti or 2080.

The last 2 are not that different in price, and sometimes the 1080ti is more.

Sincerly,
Stuck in quantum space

If you got the dough, the 2080 right now would probably be the best choice, if it is the same price as the 1080ti
I keep hearing that Nvidia will release a 2060, and some other lower end models somewhat soon, so if you can wait, that might be another option.

Thanks fellow testies for the feedback, now just need to make sure I get one that fits in the case.

Leaning towards the 2070 because of price.

I concur - if there is no need for RTX - 1660 is a good replacement of 970 ( 1080 is a tad better 2070 is two tads better ...2080 is way better but hey )

Well breaking news. My Alienware X51 R3 will not support the higher cards because of the power supply I have only supports up to 330 watt. So in search of replacing the 970.

As others have indicated, 1660ti is probably the best bang for your buck if you're on a budget, plus RTX is supposed to be getting enabled on 10 and 16 series with a pending driver update.
