Other People that want to help crew ships

I see a lot of threads here about what professions people want to do but none to help us see how many people we have that want to help us man the big ships we have. If I missed it I am sorry but I know for one while I have a ship of my own I will want to help man other peoples ships too (possible one I can keep my ship on to launch if needed or not that's okay too.) and not just always fly mine. Maybe we could have a crewman group for other people that feel this way as well to join so people can find people that want to fly with them or trade off crewing each others ships could be fun as well.

you will need people from all different professions to crew the larger ships. People as medics, repairs, copilots, Scanner pilots, scientist, gunners and pry other ones I am not thinking of. I know they will have npcs you can hire at some point to do it but what's the point in being in a big org if you aren't going to play with the people in it sometimes too outside of a fight. I would think it would be more fun and interesting if the crew were actual other people sometimes. It just seems odd we don't have a place that I have seen for these people to find ships to fly on yet for when 3.0 hits and beyond. Doing missions also seems like something that will be more enjoyable with others and if its something that required you to leave the ship in space the pilot can stay with the ship from what I have seen in the videos from gamescon and citizencon. Maybe I am just thinking to far ahead or just outside the loop but here is this thread.

You know, this are some good thoughts and questions raised by this, and rest assured you're not alone in thinking about it. Consider just turret gunners. With only a pilot aboard, many of the multi-crew ships are going to be pretty much expensive, and very slow lame ducks, and the bigger the turret gunner deficit, the bigger the target painted on the side that says, "Shoot here" - and the larger the ship, the bigger the target. This is a pretty difficult game mechanic to get around IMO, and it's going to take effort and more than "hire an NPC" I'm afraid. I don't put much stock in "AI", by the way, and those who intend to depend on them are going to be sorely disappointed.

Your best bet is a human player as a turret gunner. But this is going to require some foresight, some organization, and some leadership to get working right - so you're right to bring up the question. - and I realize that 3.0 isn't even out yet but there are some things that we do know now.

I have always preferred the idea of being a crew member on someone else's larger ship. I'd be more then happy to use my time to man a station or turret.
As all but one of the ships in my hanger are multi-crew, including a Pioneer, I'm definitely interested in people like you. I know a few others have expressed a similar sentiment too. I personally wouldn't mind doing both either. There's also the mutual support aspect. People are more likely to help you out of a jam when they can, if they know you're willing to help them out of a jam when you can.

I don't expect the Pioneer to be very useful immediately after the PNG image in my hanger turns into an actual ship that can fly - but just that ship alone is going to need a bit of an organization around it to be able to use it for anything useful. I'm hoping I can build a team, so that it can be used and useful even when I'm not online but we'll have to see how that mechanic works too. I'm hoping that the economy can pretty quickly build up to the point where this is a profitable way to operate such a ship... A lot of unknowns right now.

I want a standard crew also for my ships who is planning to play SC around 11JST-2amJST mon-sun? The main ship i'll be running around in in my reclaimer which doesnt require a huge crew, but i do have some other much larger ships(Now and some even bigger later) that i will need help manning. I want to do as many NPCs positions as i can but i dont think i can fill all those positions with NPCs(anyhow its alot more fun to have a standard crew to chat with) Id even loan out my fighter ships as escorts.

Current crew prospectors:
None

Definitely interested in being part of a large ship crew, gunner, science station, whatever is needed. I also have a lot of free time

I assume what some (or most) Captains are looking for or asking for is a regular crew, who will be ready to fly at regular scheduled times to go out as a crew on missions for TEST etc - that is for sure what I am interested in. Being part of a well oiled machine = large multi-crew domination and mission success

edit - anyone interested, feel free to message me

As the largest org in SC with 15,000 members..... I highly doubt we will have an issue finding fellow members to crew the bigger ships.
Why I am sure you are correct it makes me feel better to get it out there and start looking for someone to partner with back and forth for 3.0 and beyond. Plus it seems odd that they are just an assumption and not even a group when there are people out there that really just want to be on a crew all the time. Every time it is brought up it seems like people go sssssshhhhhhh we don’t talk about the space janitors like their post and go back to talking about ships and maybe they will go away.

While most people in SC will most likely be playing this game the way they enjoy most, when I think of people from our wonderful TEST Squadron teaming up on ships to run missions & operations, 2 funny things tend to come to mind. 1st, then mental image of somebody far too serious trying to heard a large group of cats with different personalities who are all somewhat loopy from catnip. 2nd, I get a mental image of the way the crew of the TV show The Orville would be if they were effectively paid with an seemingly unlimited yet fluctuating supply of alcohol. (Meaning that no matter how serious or urgent the mission, the ship might be making a "Beer run" along the way to "refuel" the crew.) LoL After all, while we may all be OWL, it is more like We Are All Owl while @Blind Owl is passing through a house of wacky mirrors.

I have a few larger ships and will definitely hope there are some corps actiivites that require us all to group up for things (cough attack!) sorry trade!

The universe as currently envisaged requires peoples Icons to travel and travel will take real time so it looks like coordination and planning will be required nevermind real life or game interuptions. I mean you planned to be there but your space ship was pulled out of quick travel by some hooligan wanting to inspect your ship!! So it does look like if your logging on for an hour, activities are likely to be solo or whatever with whoever is actually already there. This is all with the current 3 moons and nowt else nevermind 100 systems with however many entities.

Getting 40 people together for raids usually involved delays and sadly was also work for the officer corps and nothing star citizen has in placed so far looks like making moving people together easy.

I do hope there are real fun roles on ships (I am looking at engineering and have the cruicible and pioneer for that) but if it is wait around the ship till something goes wrong an hour later well who really wants to do that! Same with being a turret jockey.

Orville style gameplay with beer runs sounds like fun to me

I mainly have my 600I explorer and Herald for solo stuff, but when it comes to org play my 890 Jump is gonna be an open bar known as the Wet Wolfy. Otherwise i'm hoping to stowaway/crew as an eccentric scientist with my tophat, monicle, and space cat on other TESTies ships.

If you wanna find people to group up with now, try popping into our TEST discord server, people are always playing something in there. There's no "hush-hush" about it, but there's also no need to make a big deal of it. People want to crew ships, that's fine. We dont need a specific group for people that want to crew ships because crews will change on the fly all the time. With people in TEST living all over the world, having all sorts of different work schedules and play times, things will always be in motion in regards to crewing ships. Do I play with the same 2 people when I play Destiny 2? No. I mix it up and it gets my name out there and allows variety of social interaction with your fellow org members.

Fair point there, a perk of having such a wide community is that we usually have guys on wanting to play and help out with stuffs.
Bingo, a lot of members already know me because I switch "crews" often and provide an optimistic (usually) experience with each and every group. And for the members I haven't gamed with yet, I am looking forward towards our interactions.

I personally have no interest in flying a ship myself. if they offered later on a profession (shipless) game package I would probably "upgrade" to that. Personally, I'm interested in working in a deep space exploration fleet as a scientist, engi, or medic. I may be inclined to learn to fly a drop ship though ;)
