Rumors are 124m long, which is too big for a gunship. That would be a Corvette. Also rumored is 4S4 shields. S4 is cap class. Like reactors, cap shields are proprietary to a platform, so why would there be 4 of them? Also, CIG would be crazy to offer a competitor to the Polaris, right when they’re taking the Polaris public.

The rumors make no sense to me, but I’d love to see an Anvil gunship or Corvette.

Perhaps it's effectively a mini Jav that has extra shielding for tanking hits from larger ships to protect the more valuable ships in the fleet?

The $300 Paladin presents as a smaller / cheaper gunship than I anticipated. It feels a bit like a Valkyrie?

An interesting play for CIG to put a new Anvil gunship in that ship gameplay space. I was looking at my Valkyrie wondering about its gunship DNA.

And now it's been replaced....

That Quad S5 turret is on a rail! Like on Scorp, you seem to be able to switch between above and below. I always liked that feature.

So a Paladin pilot can switch position / control of the Quad S5 gun between above and below the main hull?

I see what you mean from the concept graphics. Is that a proven feature?

How big of a feature is that? As a pilot controlling guns, why not re-position the ship orientation, rather than reposition the guns, to hit a target?

Not many folks can fly upside down and not crash

Best thing I've seen about the Paladin:

https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/1h3wjcw View: https://old.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/1h3wjcw/o7_citizens_i_come_from_the_future_and_bring_you/

I come from the future and bring you the latest patch notes for the Paladin.
  • Downgraded S5-Quad turret weapons to S4.
  • Replaced S3 shields with 7x S2 shield generators.
  • Control over the wing turrets has been transferred from the pilot to the co-pilot.
Unfortunately, we had to realize that the quad turret with 4x S5 weapons is significantly stronger than our previous experience suggested. It took us several months of data collection to come to this conclusion, as our internal test—where the new intern flew the thing in Arena Commander for 8 minutes—didn't hint at this outcome. The timing of these changes is entirely arbitrary and has nothing to do with the concept sale of the Redeemer 2.0 happening in two weeks.
Additionally, we nerfed the shields because we want to further diversify ship roles, and we think it's absurd for players to actually receive the ship role they paid hundreds of dollars for. We reserve the right to possibly turn the Paladin into a light fighter in the future.
The control of the wing turrets now goes to the co-pilot, who can now choose between the quad turret or the wing turrets. The reason for this change? Jochen lost a bet.

Apparently it wasn't selling enough,, so they decided the pilot can control the wing turrets.
I've been waiting years now For them to announce the Freelancer can do this - it explains the 3rd cockpit seats and makes it a spicy little meatball. Pilot slaved forward firing gimbals or gunner controlled full motion turrets. Same for the Starfarer, Starlancer, and other ships with cheek weapons like these MISCs.

Now the concept officially exists in the Pal I very much hope to see it in those Musashi ships.
