While waiting for the official F/A-18C Hornet I broke down and bought the AV-8B Night Attack Harrier II that the Marines use, very complicated as it has many of the same systems and sensors the Hornet will have, AND it is vertical takeoff and landing capable so a real challenge on all levels - I can barely fly this thing (actually takeoff and fly is easy, landing, not so much).

I am really digging DCS Word.

Ok fine, Im downloading this.
My work here is done..... ;^)

Oh my....... where are the MIGs? The tomcats? Goose?
MiG-15, 21 and 29 are in game, SU-25, SU-27 and SU-33 are in game. The MiG 21 is a study-level sim, the others are complex but not true study-level.

A full study-level Tomcat is coming and it looks awesome.

My family has had 2 consecutive generations of Marines so I have always had a place in my heart for the Corps, so with this study-level Harrier simulation I had to put something together - the first video is from a flight I did in DCS earlier today where I attempt to replicate the vertical climbout maneuver and vertical landing that the USMC Harrier Demo team performs at airshows.

The second video is one I shot of the vertical climbout performed at the MCAS Miramar airshow a few years ago.

Does it have A-10s or AC-130s?
This! I want my Warthog.
It has two version of the Hog.

The A-10A is included in simple form in the Flaming Cliffs 3 collection, and there is a full-on study-level simulation of the A-10C that basically set the standard for study-level combat simulations for desktop flight sims - that learning curve is reportedly very steep but the results are awesome.

The Hog gets much love in DCS - probably the most love.

These are trailers for some mission sets for the A-10C, some as you can see are very story driven and highly polished - all graphics are in-game but some of the sounds are real-world edited in

This is my other current plane, the F-5E 3 Tiger II, which is awesome fun to fly.

Overall the sim is outstanding, although like SC it is in an Open Beta form, the base sim is free, you pay for the aircraft.

I am digging it.

Hmmm...what about AH-6s?

Guessing that is currently a No-Go on AC-130s? I get that, the fun there is really in being danger-close for a fire mission.

Good job, Sir!

I was flying Lock On / Flaming Cliffs for few years -- it was pure fun. Although I prefer western aircraft in real life for many reasons (NASNI in Coronado is one of many stations I've been working at ;) I was usually flying Su-27 / Su-33 in the sim; it was heavily modded at that time (Super Hornet was in a never-ending development) and it was flying like a charm...

Video by one of the Flanker modders --
