Which ship do you think you could best recreate the Millennium Falcon with?

The Lego thread got me thinking...which is dangerous. I often ask myself; "Hey, Han. Lookin good, smellin' fresh. Listen, buddy, I've got a question for ya...What is it that you want to be in the verse?"

Would you believe me if I said that I told me that I aim to for my play-style to emulate the roguish rapscallion ways of a gentleman by the name of Han Solo? I just want to be an honest businessman (with a few slight side ventures) who has enough money at the end of the day to toss back a couple cold ones with my Taveran copilot. (Admittedly, a Sasquatch co-pilot like the real Han's got is cooler, but a BirdPerson wouldn't be so bad)

For my choice, I submit to you:

  • Modular
  • Upgradable
  • WIDE range of capabilities with the chassis, so 'street sleeper' status is viable
  • Comes stock with a secret hatch for your porno stash (or porno stache, depending on how you roll)
  • Legitimately a solid cargo ship for legal work when you need to put food on the table
  • Spinny chairs

That's what I'm going with. So what would you guys use if you wanted to recreate the thrills of manning the Millennium Falcon?

I'm a little bit tempted to CCU my DUR towards taurus or andromeda. But yet i'm not sure if i will like her handling. Maybe we get a freeflight this weekend. O/ (Or fellow testies convince me to spend more money )

Also i'm a little bit insecure about her door incontinence

But what i've seen so far the connie suits the most my personal imagination of a "firefly serenity", "millenium falcon" and uhm "whatever a dirty little ship of someone who wants to survive in this harsh space" feeling.

I, too, worry a bit about the maneuverability. BUT, If I play my cards right and focus my upgrades along a Shield+Engines route (as well as keep a habit of flying light) I'm hoping that I will be able to build something that has juuuust enough surprise umph to catch would-be attackers off guard. The Falcon could survive a fight, sure, but it wasn't a fighter. It was just fast as shit and had a kickass pilot; that was its claim to fame. (Ever heard of the Kessel run?)
The Kessel run is a dangerous route through an area of space called 'The Maw', which is a cluster of black holes that is situated near the illegal spice mines of the planet Kessel. Smugglers use the dangerous nature of the route to evade all but the bravest of law enforcement. The reason that speed is important in order to achieve the passage in 12 parsecs (which is a unit of distance) is the fact that: the faster the ship can accelerate, the closer it can cut between the black holes' competing gravitational forces without being sucked in.

As for the doors and how they may or may not propel your mangled corpse into the void; The Falcon has her..eh..eccentricities too. :beers:

This was totally my plan for my Taurus, who needs a snub when you can put more contraband cargo there and just have bigger main engines... Then the speed reductions came... I hoped beyond hope that with Beta upgrading my taurus will take it from a standard YT1300 (the model of ship the Falcon started out from) to the glorious crate that we all know and love...

But then the 600 is coming along...

When Lando Calrisian lost the Falcon to Solo in a game of Sabacc he replaced it with the "Lady Luck" after the battle of Endor... depending on the 600's stats if it as a big enough cargo bay, and nice speed and manuverability, i'm more likely to be doing my Lando Calrisian-ing rather than my Han Solo-ing.

Exactly why I got one.

My Freelancer DUR is my 'Serenity'.

Ooh, I wonder if it will come with a Lobot and beckon call.....and capes. Lots of sweet-ass capes.

We shall have all the capes!

My favorite lando/solo quote:

Lando
: What have you done to my ship?
Han Solo: YOUR ship? Hey, remember you lost her to me, fair and square.

I've been agonizing over this question since I started building my fleet. I really don't know which ship creates the feeling of the Falcon. I thought it was the Connie, but after being in one, I'm not to sure. So I'm patiently waiting to see if anything gets released that has that feeling. Maybe the 600...
Maybe not. We shall see.

Very tempted to upgrade my current home ship from Aquila to 600, depending on how pretty it is.

Might have to sell the redeemer to do so, but then i might be able to pick up a Superhornet..
We'll see :D

I think we are starting this of in the wrong way. The Millenium falcon is a very much altered and overclocked stock light freighter. There are a few ships that could compare to a stock light freighter as mentioned above. Hopefully item upgrades will allow one of them to actually end up okay in combat with speed and still able to smuggle. The problem is the falcon is almost a hero ship and thus too good.

Still given the state of the current game we can really only go by looks and that probably makes it the connie (note said in the week of 600 release!). Since the 600 will be concept and thus amazing I vote for that at least until reality bites (the ship comes out in game) and or the next concept arrives which is even more amazing!

Freelancer to me, in the current state, is more like a space van with camping ability. Well you can do it but its probably not something you want to do for a very long time:

While the connie is more like a „real space ship“ which feels like you can survive in it for a long time without having too much downside. We still don’t know shit about the game and how its going to be. But the Connie is becoming more and more attractive to me

more like a real space camper
