So ya, was looking forward to buying some new ships, melting some old ones and just getting excited about it all and yup as you guessed for the past hour can't even access the ship page lmao! Not sure if this good because it means lots of people are active or sad because RSI can't even handle its webpage knowing how busy it was going to be. :P Anyways I hope I don't miss out on anything seeing as I have to work the next 12 hrs. So I want to get a carrack, but I just want it to be available in my buy back options. Would I buy it now and then exchange it and it would be available as a buy back at some point in the future when I want it again?

So he got the non LTI carrack with an LTI token.
He melted the carrack so it could be in buyback.
now he wants to use buyback token to get carrack again.
is he able to upgrade an LTI token to the carrack from buy back?

Yes.
No. When you buyback an upgraded ship, you only get the original pledge.
You'll have to buy the CCU separately and put that in your buybacks.
