Best ship to fly?

So I broke down and got two joysticks (T16000m) to run a dual setup. What I'm wondering is, what is the best ship in the game to learn how to fly with something I haven't used since 1990s?

I have enough REC to try any ship they offer there. Only got one stick in the mail so far, I ordered two but they sent me a joystick and a box of diapers!? So just messing around with one stick in the Hornet has taught me I suck.

TESTies give the best advice! So please help!

I think the M50 is probably the most fun to fly in the game. The Avenger Titan is very, very nice as well and quite a lot cheaper.

Use the Gladius if you are looking to become more proficient with flight. It is relatively hard to handle, but is still a breeze compared to some other ships.

Also, in AC everyone goes for the Gladius, which means more practice for you!

There's a lot of wisdom in this advice. If you intentionally (and intelligently!) make things harder than they have to be when you're learning the ropes you'll learn a lot of things that will do you well for a long time that you otherwise would have taken much longer to learn (aiming control, evasive actions, leading the ship into a turn, etc). IE: Put the ship so far ahead of you that when you finally catch up and switch to something easier you'll be ahead of it.

I honestly think Im going to spend my time flying around in a starfarer refuelling ALL the starcitizenses.
Ill start with flying as far as I can and refuel myself though until i either explode or discover something worthwile

You can actually get so close to a planet or moon it says you're approaching it's gravitational field. Any closer and you just do the death animation.

The sun can't be traveled to, it's just the area around Crusader. But I was Quantum traveling and got knocked out cause I got too close to a moon

I just went cruise speed and ended up in the atmosphere I guess. It kills you instantly since landing isn't in yet.
