Wifey and I figured out we can sit at obituary with a salvage ship and purchase the contracted wrecks around there, salvage them, then just cycle-and-abandon the small Salvage Resupply missions until we get the ones for obituary. Nice and easy, you just keep a stockpile of the materials in your hangar and call them up as you accept the mission. Took about 6 hours in a reclaimer to do the entire event with 100k starting UEC to purchase the wrecks.

Sounds like a plan.
If I wasn't stuck on orbituary without a working hangar I'd give it a try in my trusty new MISC Fortune.
Oh well, by the time I get to fly again that event will most likely be done.
Still, congrats. Always had the feeling that salvaging was the way to go for this thing. :like:

For me, I did the small mining versions of the mission in like 12 hours or so (across multiple sessions), though to be fair I got 4663 points in the end so wouldn't have taken 12h. All you really need to do is find a one good tin cluster. You need 90 tin to finish the mission, which honestly isn't a lot. We were mining on Bloom, though some people say other planets/moons are better.
Remember, if you find a good cluster, and there's more than you can mine, you can "r_displayinfo 2" in the console to get your in game coordinates, so you can return to the cluster to continue mining it. Or you can just take a box delivery mission and use it as a beacon, drop the mission box at the cluster.

As for the ice, you can just straight up buy it at Ruin station, which is also a drop-off point for the mission. So, super easy. It's usually in short supply, but I've managed to buy like 20 SCU once or twice. 4 SCU is the least you can buy at once and quite easy to nab even with competition around. And again, you just need 90 for the entire event. Or you can mine it in one of the nearby RAB's or asteroid clusters. Or go to Megumi refueling, less competition more ice.

Additionally, if you get 2x8 SCU boxes of ice from buying them, or 24 SCU box from smeltery, and you need to turn in just 6 SCU each for the small mission, do not panic. Just turn in those boxes and the game now sends the excess back to your warehouse. Losing the extra resources, like you did during the last event, is no longer an issue. You'll probably need to refresh the warehouse view to see them tho, that always scares me.

Oh, and if you claim stuff from smeltery and it doesn't show up in your ship, just store the ship and pull it back up. This fixed that particular issue, which happened to us 3 times in a row, 3 times in a row.

I havent even done anything yet as i've had no end of bugs in this patch - but I did some mining so I got some crates of copper and corrundum I'll try handing them in.

Do you have to hand the whole lot on e.g. ifits 0.90scy can you get any money for bringing 50scu? or do you have to submit the full 90 to get the mission?

If I recall correctly, when my friend turned in that large mining mission, he first sent down 258 ice, which is half of the materials required. He didn't get any sort of completion or compensation for that, until he turned in the other half. So if you're turning in half a mission, you get nothing.

Oh, if you meant you have half the required materials for the whole event, then yeah, you can turn in a bunch of missions and progress the event without completing it in its entirety. Just make sure to always have enough for a whole mission. The small missions, at least for ice and tin, are more beneficial than the large ones anyhow. (For turning in 4 large missions, you need like 1k tin and 1k ice, and that gets you the required 2800 points. But if you're turning in 15 small missions, 6 tin and 6 ice each, then you just need 90 both for that 2800 points.)

Yes I learned that and can confirm if you do not have 100% of all the materials for the mission don't try and hand any in as you'll lose them I put the copper and conrundum I had on the lift and sent it down only to be 4 corundum short. Ended up panicking when I realised you cant buy it anywhere and it was gonna take too long to mine it for the half an hour I had left - and canceling the contract. Guess what you lose whatever's already gone down the lift if you do that. So that's my copper and corundum gone and no completed mission,

Oops.. Sums up my life!
