Impressive from a marketing / sales perspective, indeed. CIG figured out how to capitalize on an audience with a desire to 'buy in' to ships harder to earn in a game while tempting them with the comfort of LTI. And they haven't yet tapped their full potential. Imagine what else they might try to sell: Engineering blades, specialized NPC crew, land plots for base buildings ... Like it or not, Star Citizen sales haven't tapped their full potential yet and the game is going to be far more than it would have been without those sales.

CIG clearly did not have an 'IN' with USAID. $800 million is rookie numbers...

LoL.. looking forward to the actuals, but am happy to see that the wild, unsustainable and unprecedented plan to create a game is somehow still growing.

All Hail Glorious Leader for crushing the non-believers!

land plots for base buildings .
They sold land claims once upon a time (I think it was November 2017) 8km X 8km estates came with the Pioneer concept, and i think they sold standalone 4 X 4 claims at the same time. That is if memory serves, which is dubious these days.

Your memory is serving you well in this case, as this did indeed happen. IIRC the 4x4's were $50 and the 8x8 $100..
