I’m not going to review each of these but rather just share a few prejudices. Yes, I know lots of players use whatever they pick up. Some start a conflict with just a good knife. Kudos. However, it’s good to know the basics.

a) Weight matters. Choose the lightest loadout and weapon you can. Time To Kill (TTK) is not as important a metric in Star Citizen FPS as Time To Target (TTT) because in SC, once a target is being shot it cannot shoot back. Therefore, light weapons that point quickly matter more than killing quickly. It almost never matters if you kill in 5 or 6 shots.

b) Report matters. All weapons save knives have a 50 meter report and will aggro NPCs and players inside that range unless you reduce the range with a suppressor—highly recommended for caves. Knives have zero report. You can knife an NPC and not tip off his buddy standing right next to him, until your knife finds his heart too.

c) Broadcasting matters. NPCs don’t seem to notice laser pointers but players certainly do. There’s a reason RL armed forces don’t carry pointers. They broadcast your position. Bad idea. Some of the new compensators provide the same spread reduction as a laser without broadcasting your position.

d) Lighting matters. The lights on most helmets suck and many missions have you stumbling around in the dark. Consider a light attachment that you turn on only when you need it. Too many players miss mission objectives for lack of a simple light attachment.

e) Spotting matters. You want always to see before being seen. The new IR attachment needs your attention trial in a dark place like a cave or bunker. One click turns it on/off and swinging your gun across the room could reveal opponents, dramatically increasing your lifespan. Check it out. This is not the same as night vision. It makes opponents glow.

I have been trying some low level bunker missions (the Bounty Hunting ones), and they have been deadly! Even in the lowest bounty mission I just get absolutely spanked.
I have had most success with sniping from a way out, and then heading inside. The NPCs still seem to just murder me 90% of the time.
I will try a faster aiming gun, as that might help me out!
Thanks for all the info 👍

Also remember to move quickly from cover to cover. NPCs have a hard time hitting anything moving at 85% and greater, so keep your carried/worn gear below 25kg, and ideally below 15kg. Keep in mind that carried and worn does not include what is inside your pack.

Carrying a second weapon is almost always a bad idea. Don’t loot weapons and armor until you clear the room.

Report back so we know how it goes.

IIRC, when facing the cave to the left and just behind the entrance is a copse of trees where you can hide a small ship like a Titan. Handy to conceal your presence from other looters so you get them before they get you.

Enter with just your undersuit, helmet and Arc Lite. Take out all 4 NPCs in the first room. Then put on the heavy yellow armor and large backpack and use it to loot all 4 bodies and 5 chests. Don’t forget the last chest outside as you are leaving. It’s mostly gems. The only higher value/volume items in game are trophy items and weapon attachments.

Dump goods, bed log, server hop, and repeat. This takes ~5 minutes/cycle, so ~12 cycles per hour. You can go past the first room for variety, but your treasure/hr will be lower. If you have empty cargo boxes you can work for several hours, and more if you start leaving more armor and weapons behind.

Grab Stuff you want to keep out of inventories while quantum jumping out. Now you are using ALL of your time.

Practice Crouch, Prone/Crawl, Jump and double Jump (grab) in the cave. These techniques get used less in bunkers and other environs and you need to master them to outperform others. Places with a yellow line are places you can double jump and grab. This allows you to get height in several missions, so you are looking down in a wreck in NPCs and PCs as well. This can give you an edge in combat. Likewise, the caves are a good place to practice throwing grenades. Practice jumping into place, quickly throwing a food item or drink bottle, then quickly jumping away as if you are jumping in and out of a doorway. Food fights are fun.

To do an unarmed takedown of PCs in melee, use the middle mouse button to knock unconscious. You do not get a crimestat unless you loot them. Check to see if their ship is red. If so, you can loot without getting a crimestat yourself. This is huge reason to stay away from caves when you have a crimestat. This is The Way of The Shadow. Teach players why they fear the Shadows.

You can imagine why in this gameplay the Jaeger HG-3 3X infrared scope (time index 10:15 at top) will make life very simple sitting on an Arc Lite w/ suppressor.

Should yield about 5MaURC/hr. In a longer session you can earn enough to buy most ships in game, and hone your silent takedown skills with a knife and barehanded before you get bored.

I am not suggesting you only use the Arc Lite. Use whatever you loot or like. This is the “zero to hero” path where you start with only what comes in the starter package. You should feel free to mix and match, but entering the cave with no armor does allow you to loot significantly more, and you will quickly find your opponents in this situation don’t get the chance to shoot at you, so why wear armor?
