In order of where I would say: PSU, CPU/Mobo/Ram all at once, GPU. Also the case will need to be changed down the line, the airflow will kill you once you start moving to higher power parts.

You may want to swap the PSU out in the future, dangerously close to maxing out your 12V line and those units are not know to be the best performers at full load.

They work fairly well now days. The H80/i is about as good as most higher end air coolers and the H100/i just about matches every high end cooler that you can buy. Now, over time the pump will die on it but for most units, thats quite a few years down the line.

Love those drives. Only thing I hate about them is once they get up there in run time, they start to get fussy about raid. Using 4 of them in RAID 0 with nightly backups to my server. No worries if they kick the can then. But that raid 10 there keeps looking better by the day.

In SLI/crossfire VRAM is not doubled when you add a card. If you use a 290X (4GB) and add another in crossfire you still only have 4GB usable. You would still have the same VRAM wall.

That may be, but what are your FPS minimums? I never see low dips like that even when running fully modded out games. Crysis 1 fully modded/3 all above 60 fps minimum. Metro: LL? Same. To each their own, its not a big issue for most, I personally just hate dropping.
