I might be misunderstanding it, but I think there's a reincarnation aspect. That is, a single character might only live for a year or so, but the soul would be free to reincarnate into a new body after that. Damaged Keyboard?
Best of luck! I had something similar happen with my keyboard, except it was a cat knocking a drink onto it. I had to unplug it quickly, take all the keys off and wash it out with distilled water, then dry it out with a hairdryer and let it sit over night to make sure any lingering pockets were...- WarrenPeace
