At age 5 his Father died.
At age 16 he quit school.
At age 17 he had already lost 4 jobs.
Between ages 18 & 22, he was a railroad conductor & failed.
He joined the army & washed out there.
He applied for law school he was rejected.
He became an insurance sales man & failed.
At age 20 his wife left him.
He became a cook & dishwasher in a small cafe.
At age 65 he retired.
Decided to commit suicide, he had failed so much.
But, he realized still one thing he could do better than anyone "cooking".
He borrowed $87, bought & fried up chicken using his recipe, went door to door to sell them in Kentucky.
At age 88 Harland David "Colonel" Sanders, founder of KFC was a billionaire.

Hmmm....a nice story of success for the Colenol and his fingerlicking goodness! Did not know this behind the man. A wealth of information Sam, although Im still waiting for next weeks lotto numbers! Mind you, I was under the impression the Colonel sold up and remained the face of KFC while some multinational made piles of money from his idea and he didnt. Is that not true?o_O

Thanks for sharing that Sam. There's some urban legend embellishments in there (I believe that he was honourably discharged from the army, and sold KFC in the 60's for $2 million), but there's no disputing that Sanders started with nothing and became successful and internationally known. Truly an inspiration to keep on putting one foot in front of the other even when things get bad.
