As someone who *really* enjoys the ES series I have been watching the Fallout 76 ... fallout with some trepidation.

This video covers a lot of the points I think are relevant - we’ve had some amazing titles released recently; ES6 will have to be viewed standing side by side with them. Nostalgia alone won’t cut it.

It's essentially the same engine (with some modifications) that Fallout 4 and Skyrim used. I'm not entirely worried about the new Elder Scrolls game.

Haven't watched the video yet (will do later) but I don't really see the problem here. The engine, while kinda aging in the graphics department, still works well enough to deliver a story driven game the size of Skyrim.

I see that lots of ppl keep shitting on this engine like it's the worst ever, but that's something I've never experienced. It ran fine for me even on my mediocre computers (yes it didn't break the 240fps, but it was a perfectly enjoyable 30-60. Fps in a game like this is vastly overrated bs...). Quests worked, ai worked as well as it could, spells were okay... what else do you want really?
Apart from the very rare CTD, it's was a great experience.
Two things Bethesda could always deliver on with this manky old engine:
Consistent looks that are immersive, and great side quests. I think this matters way more than flashy out of place graphics ( Im looking at you silly ugly ENB "realistic graphics" mods) or AI that can change its behavior depending on when you last had a bath...

they'd have to really screw it up for it to be bad
