Hey TESTies,
I'd like to share with you all how to receive live updates from your favorite Star Citizen content providers in a simple Chrome add-on so you don't have to keep F5ing (refreshing) webpages eagerly awaiting new content.
Follow these steps to add some basic RSI, TEST, and associated RSS feeds to Google Chrome;
1) Get an RSS Feed Reader; Go to the following link and click the Add To Chrome button to add the RSS Feed Reader to Google Chrome. You should see an RSS symbol show up in the top-right of Google Chrome after it is installed.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/rss-feed-reader/pnjaodmkngahhkoihejjehlcdlnohgmp?hl=en
2) Download the RSS feed file; Click the following link and an RSS feeds file for Star Citizen related content that I have created (I like to keep it simple, but thorough) should download. Remember the location where you downloaded the file to.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8tosvl5b5ys3t9b/Feeder.opml?dl=1
3) Import the RSS Feed file into the RSS feed reader; In Google Chrome click the RSS Feed Reader icon in the top right. A drop-down menu should appear with a gear (settings) icon in the top-left, click it then click "organize your feeds". This will open a new webpage with your RSS feeds. Click the "Import Feeds From File" button. Select the file that you downloaded in step 2 and click open.
You're done! When any of the pages listed in your RSS feeds updates (i.e. a new post to the RSI front-page) you will receive a notification in the top-right of chrome. Simply click the RSS Feed Reader icon and you will be able to navigate to the new post. Look out for the RSS Feed Reader icon on webpages you frequent. Many different websites support RSS Feed Readers so you can stay up to date on their latest content.
Pros; Receive near-instant updates on new Star Citizen (and related) content.
Cons; You have to click a couple buttons.
Regards,
Captain O-Lefty

P.S.
The feeds that I have added to the file in step 2 are as follows;
RSIwp - Comm-Link; RSI Front-page new post notification.
RSIf - Official Announcements; RSI Forums official announcements (i.e. weekly calendar updates, ship prices, etc.)
RSIf - Live Service Notifications; RSI Forums section that displays and updates to the current live version of Star Citizen.
YouTube - Nichole D'Angelo; A YouTuber that routinely and frequently hosts 1-on-1 with Ben Lesnik (Manager of Ships).
YouTube - Star Citizen; The official Star Citizen YouTube channel.
TEST Notices; The section of the TEST forums for "Official" TEST "Announcements"
TEST Operations/Events; The section of the TEST forums for "Sanctioned" TEST "Operations" and "Events"
