And I guess it turned into a new full build :/

So for the parts I have ordered so far:

Sapphire Vega 64 - $400
AMD R7 1700X - $150
Crucial Elite 3000 2x8 - $120
EVGA GQ 1000w PSU - $63

I think I have my mind made up on the ssd being an nvme 970 evo unless somebody can make a case for something else? Got HP EX920 M.2 1TB PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe for $145

The case and cooler I think I'll pick something up pretty easy over this next week.

The hardest part I'm having is the mobo. I can't decide between a b450 or x370. Does anybody have some input on a specific board or between those 2 chip sets. Hopefully something under $100 if not in the 60-80 range. I'm in the US btw. Thanks.

Kinda. In my experience the prices can be just as good leading up to BF. I might save on that Vega 64 but they are already so damn limited. The only thing I think I'm waiting on is the visa checkout which I'll use on the other stuff.

@Printimus cyber usually sucks compared to the lead up to BF and BF itself.

4xx mobo is important for 2xxx ryzens ... so in case you plan to switch to those eventually - you definitely need to go with it ... othewise 3xx isn't THAT bad
Yeah I'm leaning towards b450. Down the rabbit hole I found MSI B450 A Pro. Seems like it fits what I'm looking for in the price range.

Cyber monday isn't terrible ive seen some great deals on it from time to time BF will usually have another 50 usd off on big components if not more than the week that follows. You could also buy a barebones with the parts you want during the time with all of the components you want and it will come cheaper and have a copy of windows with it.

970 Evo - NVMe offers no benefit for gaming. You can get a 1TB 860 Evo for less than a 500GB 970 Evo.

It'll probably help a bit with SC specifically, but not with anything else.

Do you have a sauce on that? I thought iops matter. The faster it can get to the next file the faster it can load assets. I could be dead wrong though and it wouldn't be the first or last time lol.

Oh man I think a new build was a good idea. Came home today after a few weeks away when I tried to boot my poor puter. After 30-40 min of freezing/stuttering and bsod's it felt like a psu issue. Unplugged one of the 280x and the bridge and I have a working computer again :O

My poor seasonic 750 gave all she had for 5 yrs on a 280x xfire. The rig is showing it's age :/ THE WHEELS ARE FALLING OFF

i think the psu is slightly overpowered. But better having a little bit more than to less.
Anyway a good "cheap" build i guess. new ram?
yeah way overpowered but at the price it popped up i had to snag it. was looking more in the 750 range but anything gold or better was more expensive.

i think i know what you're saying about the ram. i decided to go 2x8 for now and pick up bigger ones when the price tanks. those were the only stick i could find anywhere near that price that im 90% sure are samsung die and it even let me choose dual rank. i guess amd is really really picky and samsung is the way to go.

Pretty basic test, but you can look up more. SATA SSDs are plenty for gaming (again, I feel like SC would be an exception, and you got quite a deal on your NVMe - they're dirt cheap rn). Where NVMe drives shine is content creation and any other application where you're moving big files around the SSD.
