SOLVED!! Thanks @Vavrik !

Decided to upgrade my RAM and got 2x8gb to replace 2 of my 4x4gb. Both are DDR3, Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz, but the new ones have different heat sinks.

My computer recognizes that I now have 24GB, but very shortly after turning on it begins shuddering as if I'm low on RAM. It says they're all running at 1333MHz.

The only difference I can see is the 4gb sticks are 9-9-9-24, but the 8gb sticks are 10-10-10-27.

Please help. Here's pics of them. Top is the 4gb and bottom is 8gb package.

Did the new stick pass memtest? I had 1 Corsair dominator fail on me out of the box.
Weirdly I decided to just take the two old stick out and leave the 2x8 in to see if it'd work. Runs perfectly fine, except I'm back down to 16gb in my computer. I guess I could just order another 2x8, but that's another $70. I do want it, but I'm just a bit miffed.

1600 MHz 9-9-9-24 vs 1600 MHz 10-10-10-27.
You get a rough performance index by dividing the MHz by the CL (The first number in the ram performance spec, also called CAS Latency)
1600/9 = 177
1600/10 = 160
The 9-9-9-24 either aren't 1600 MHz, or there was something wrong with one of the sticks you removed.... which is more likely in fact. Those have been around for a while.
The CL is the rating for memory to be ready to respond to a request from the controller.

I'll try inserting the first two I took out and see if those work. They're all 1600, says on the chipset itself.

Yep, it was a bad stick. Took both the first two I took out to put in the 2x8 and put them in along side, now it's running just fine. I doubt it's noticeably slower, but I got 24gb RAM now.

Probably why my computer was acting pretty slow when it said I had plenty of space left, one of the sticks was bad, so I was only really running on 12gb.

I used to get that all the time, back in 3.5 and 3.6 or something like that, whenever we got ArcCorp. Update the video drivers if you can. Sometimes it's just a glitch and you can restart and it's OK. Sometimes a driver issue. Is your HD an SSD? That might help too. But also the game seems to be a little glitchy in Area 18.

I asked someone in game and they said they get it a lot too and just restart, so I logged out and I'm going to get back in. I do have an SSD, and the 24gb RAM is REALLY helping so far, I notice a smoother game.

As to the RAM issue, in general, you should keep ALL of the ram being used at 1 time being of the same type / size. While your PC might recognize that you have 2x8 & 2x4, the motherboard will typically only utilize all of the sticks based on the lowest values of each of the sticks. So you're more than likely only getting part of the benefit of what you would've had before until you upgrade the other 2 4gb sticks.

Try Deleting the Shader Floder - located inside the USER Folder (DO NOT delete the entire USER Folder- no need for this)
---> When you Launch SC, it will create a new Shader Folder <---
This corrects 'MOST' but not all graphical problems.
