The USAF F-47 Next Generation Air Dominance contract has officially been given to Boeing, as opposed to Lockheed Martin or Northrup Grumman, which is a big surprise. GE Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney are still competing for the engines and first flights are expected in 2029.

Here’s me thinking “Phantom Spear” is much too cool a name to keep. There’s still time for someone at the Pentagon to screw this up.

There's been a prototype flying for a few years now; it's not an entirely new development. Most of the focus is on command, communication and control, including integration with AI driven 'wingman' drones.
