A must read for anyone interested in the present & future of Star Citizen & SQ42.

Best line ----- . I can’t go into technical details at this point, but there are technologies we are working on now on AWS that will enable us to have the most detailed, massively populated universe for our players to explore and interact with.

Cheers.

I could be mistaken, but as far as I understand - lumberyard is just a version of cry engine with some aws library added, to simplify integration with this cloud solution, so most of the workload should be ripping off whatever custom integration with clustered servers was there, and replacing it by corresponding lumberyard libraries ... what is left to be seen is - how much of aws support CIG will have in future - extending those libraries in collaboration with amazon (let's pray here :) )

Lumberyard is a modification of the CryEngine platform, yes, but there are sources that explain how Amazon essentially reworked about 50% of the codebase to optimize not just AWS integration, but some new graphical features that weren't normally available in CE2.8 (Or 3 or whichever number it was based on... I'm running on three hours of sleep, cut me some slack :D )

@ThomSirveaux - I'm VERY good in vaporware myself, so it is quite difficult for me to accept that 150% of graphical features of cryengine was modified by the team that have close to 0 understanding of graphical processing, as long as this 150% wasn't somehow related to the aws cloud services themselves (that DO contain some GPU based instances), but this specific case was covered by my original clause of "AWS integration"
