I have to say, the planned, indoctrinated, deliberate hating on Musk is really hurting human spaceflight. Both my brothers hate Musk but can’t give a reason why. They like electric cars, and Solar City style photovoltaics, and tunnel digging machines, and free speech, and robots, and cranial implants, and human spaceflight, but they hate the champion of all these things and can’t give a reason.

The first space rescue op and everyone is busy hating for the sake of hating. It’s a bad day for noble spirits, and the human enterprise.

You say indoctrinated, I say that a lot of people are looking at his actions and are forming their own opinions.

Musk has a lot of qualities, both good and bad, like most people. Unfortunately, like a certain person named Chris R., he has a big habit of overpromising, underdelivering, and playing to the crowd. Unfortunately for him, HE stepped into the political arena in a time where most of his consumer base was on the other side of the political spectrum. He also has a company that is spectacularly overvalued with a PE of 115 (for reference, both toyota and VW are around 7.4 and 4.9 respectively)

He should have been VERY aware that a significant portion of his customer base would dislike what he was doing and start looking at rival companies, while those that do favor his political stance either prefer ICE vehicles or can't afford them. While that would have been fine even 2 years ago, TODAY is a very different landscape. Lucid, Ford, BMW, Dodge, Mercedes, etc. all offer products that not only match his, but are in some cases far outclass his. His approach to hands off driving is failing (it fell for Wyllie E Coyote? Not even the roadrunner did..or at least it could distort spacetime to make it true), their next gen battery tech has failed to appear, and their cars are lacking. I test drive one and the Lucid product is FAR superior, but even that company has issues. I've also driven a few other EVs and with the exception of one, most were better overall than the Tesla. (my wife and I needed a car, so we test drove a LOT...I test drove about 10 EVs/Plug in vehicles. Tesla was number 9 overall.

When all is said and done, it is very possible that Tesla will be in a significant bind by next year, if not consumed by another company.

He is the CEO of multiple companies, EACH of which would be a normal full time job, plus bossing around a bunch of kids who have absolutely NO knowledge of the areas they are evaluating and deciding what is and what is not important. The damage he is doing is almost incalculable, not only to the US, but to the companies he runs. It is highly likely that at the end of everything, for all the showmanship he has performed, courts following the law will find that what he has done is illegal, and that legal trouble will probably also spill over onto his companies as well.

Sorry, but he is the one of the smartest idiots out there.

Look, I agree that government needs to be pared down. I agree that government workers need to be held accountable and do their work effectively and efficiently. I agree that there are some agencies that are probably redundant and that people are not being held accountable...But they could have gone about it differently and been much more effective in the long run.

Musk has no one to blame but himself

I own a Tesla and I think musk has done extraordinary things for cars and for space travel and I think we should never forget that. He's pretty much changed the world I think for the better.

But there's no denying he has gone completely bananas now just spending all day posting absurd stuff on twitter from the Whitehouse shitter like a 7 year old.

It's bizzar.

Used to be a fan of Elon and the other tech leaders, wasn't too long ago I remember sitting in the bath reading Musks book laughing away. Savior of mankind stuff.

Then he called a real hero, diving through barely human size cave gaps to save children. A pedo.

I guess I've gotten older, I worked in FAANG in the silicon docks. Folks I saw as a privilege to work for I got to see them throw absolute tantrums over some "yeah like maybe I could see that..? Not really.." Slight.

Little men, big ego's - can't say I'm a fan in general. Quite a few of my friends are still in the industry, they're brilliant and are pushing that frontier but they're sick of it too.
The companies have had a pretty major culture shift in what I'd describe as the idolized Steve Job's design. It's all a bit, kinda - yeah - no that's not what he meant.. Calm down.
I'd put tech bros as worse than finance bros in terms of culture. Elon, Bezos, Zuck -- we can all see why public opinion on them is generally low, largely because they don't need it to be high.
They're not politicians and there's not a single thing any of us can do to touch them.

As Jamie Dimon recently said, "it's a free country".
To which most of us rightly added, "unless I say otherwise"
