I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get one of the XML I found online for the T-Flight to work. They made a change recently that requires the following line at the top of the config:

<ActionMaps version="0">
<CustomisationUIHeader image="" description="" label="JoystickTFlight" device="joystick"/>
...​

Not sure if you had that in your tutorial but I struggled to get things to work until I discovered this.
