Have a Polaris but all your mates play COD? Are you the only one you know that enjoys tearing ships apart for a living? Want to explore but can't even get the scanner to find a beer at a test meeting? Or maybe you're just not stupid enough to spend thousands on an imaginary ship but would still like to try obliterating that suspicious looking Mustang with the full power of a Javelin's weapons anyway....
In that case you need the CREW THREAD!!!
(either that or I need the ten points from posting to go up a level)

I don't know if this is already catered for (in which case I don't care, I'm on a roll and i'm gonna start this post anyway....) but if not then I think It could be helpful to people like me who have a few large ships and don't wanna be the person trying to work all stations at once. I know we will be able to hire NPCs but my experience of NPC team mates usually involves spending more time calling them back from a mad dash into incoming fire or attempting to get them to face the right way. Now I know I'll likely have the same problem with TESTies but it will definitely be more fun.
I don't always want to be the pilot either so finding someone else that wants to fly a Crucible or finding a space on a Reclaimer other than my own so I can learn a different station is part of what I want from 3.0 and beyond. There are other big ships I don't own and It would be good to try out a role on them too.

I thought the thread could be organised along these lines, sort of like a small ads board that would make searching for crew or ships easy:
RECLAIMER SHIP (or RECLAIMER CREW if you are offering crew services)
Hi I need x crew for a mission in a Reclaimer. Add any other info applicable... is it an official mission or just a trip out into the black, expected gains if any, pay offered if any.... positions available (claw operator, navigator etc)...and so on.

A thread of posts like that could be searched by ship type and comments left to indicate an interest. There could even be separate threads in the various groups (the Piracy one would probably need it's own ).

It's just an idea and may exist already in some form but I think having a dedicated thread would help and it would be a good way to meet people with the same interest.
I have no idea how to set this up... Just putting it out there

For anyone who came in for the "beer" and "more beer" tags it's in the fridge :grinning::beers::beer::beers:

I came in for the beer. As a dedicated fighter pilot I tend to get lost in bigger ships, but if you are patient enough to wait until I find my station, I'm in for some turret duties.
Biggest problem with getting a crew together will be timing. TEST forum is too slow, unless you create an event. TEST discord is too fluent, but if you want to get a crew together, I suggest creating an "event" on the forum, with a fixed date and time, but gather on TEST discord. Maybe it is a good suggestion to ask @SeungRyul for a dedicated party forming section with event possibilities, where anybody can post an event thread.
Maybe Spectrum also is a good place to start a party event system.
It is too early to say. Maybe 3.0 will bring more TESTies online. Right now we have 3 systems, forum, discord and spectrum, but not everybody is active on all of them.

Yeah good advice, thanks. It's a bit early for it yet but I can see it being useful later to have a directory of people who are up for multicrewing and in what form even if they aren't available when you are on the forum at least you know they are interested. Maybe with improvements in Spectrum there will be more Testies on there and that might be a good place to have it. Work in progress I think but maybe something to come back to as more specialist multi crew ships arrive in game. At the moment those available can still be used single handed but when we have the bigger ships and the industrial models that cannot be effectively used without help it may be an idea to set aside an area.

Forget 3.0. I'm [CONCERNED] I won't find people to play with when the game will be live.
I have a pretty weird playing schedule. Log in for 30 minutes in the morning, maybe a bit after lunch, a couple of hours late in the evening. How am I going to find enough people to fill the stations on a Hope Class? I imagine most people will prefer flying their own ships, even if they're smaller ships - not always, but most of the time, I guess.
CIG might allow us to "port" onto a friend's ship and get straight to the action. But if I'm on a planet and my friend logs in on the other side of the 'verse, will I be able to insta-spawn on his ship and Agent Smith one of his NPC crew? If so, how will they prevent using teleport-to-a-friend being abused instead of actually flying from point to point?
I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!

Yeah that's how elite dangerous do it.... with virtual presence.... They definitely need to provide some sort of incentive to people that are willing to crew a ship or as you say most will just fly on their own. (A lot more booty for pirate and patients for medic wing as the single crew Hull Ds and starfareres fly around). I'm looking to alternate with other pilots of the same big ships I own, taking turns crewing or flying each other's ship maybe. But also up for a stint on other ships i haven't got.... I guess we'll see how it pans out in 3.0 and beyond.

Right now with combat flight night (pauzed until setember) we also fly with multicrew ships and escorts. It gives you more challenging ICC and probe missions, but since there is no real persistent, we still must form up in discord and use a procedure to get in the right/same instance. It has been worse. Right now we manage to get at least 8 people in the same instance if everybody follows the procedure.

Posting so I can read this later. Looks like lots of brilliant thought stuff and brain wave thingies.
Cheers :-)
It does give that illusion... yes. Plenty of fancy ideas with no accurate timescale and no real commitment to seeing them through. I really have learned from watching old vids of CR announcement speeches... (sorry i've just spent a few mins trolling starcitizen twitter and i'm still in the zone)

Yeah I'll have to come along once I've found my mike (removable mike seemed a good feature when I bought the headset :/ )

Edit : I can already see the confusion and carnage... "I'm going for Ninetails"
"ok... I'll take out Ninetails, then we'll both attack Ninetails together"

Especially for discord and teamplay I bought a semi proffesional single ear headset, I didn't want to loose the surround sound (which only works on the front speakers ) but still nobody understands me, probably my bad English pronounciation :joy:

I think spectrum will have something to this effect for finding people to play with.
It's probably their big reveal for gamescon "What? 3.what.... Oh yeah soon but look at this new mechanic to find crew mates" (Cue cheers from desperate citizens in the crowd just looking for something positive)

I don't think true group functionality will be in until 3.1 or later. That being said, I do like the idea of having a Test jobs board or crew list based on job type and/or time available. I for one am a crappy pilot and would love to be a turret gunner on one of the larger ships (assuming they fix the turrets..) or perform another crew role. Hopefully once we get real group functionality we will start to see more crew requests and people teaming up. My plan is to offer to help crew a larger ship to learn the game better and also start to find more Testies to befriend that play around the same days and times that I do. I do think that going solo is still going to be the preferred method for shorter play sessions, especially when they get the NPC crew going.
