Hey @Blind Owl - how are the operations doing? Is the hardest time over? When do you get back home? Whats that about your mentioned "things getting harder here, can't be online"-mysterious comment?

@ all: gooood morning! 9 a.m. here, the sun is shining again. As a result of the mild winter we have an insect plague in our garden. Yesterday, ants took over our terrace. I'm not naming it a phobia - but I *hate* ants, I can tell... Our neighbour told us that these brute is already in their house *shudder*

And that's for the protocol: If this becomes the thing within SC, I've spended hell of an amount of money for hell of a shitty game:

I don't know *how* CIG wants to avoid such actions - but somehow this pisses me of and I really, really *hope* that CIG finds a solution ...

I had an ant invasion a couple of weeks back, put some powder down and hand ourselves an insectoid apocalypse!

As for the ship invasions: Door locks. Simple. The pirate can break into the ship, but have to use some kind of cutter/charges/lockpick which alerts the captain, so at least they have a chance to get out of their chair and fight back. The permission system isn't in the game yet, but when it is you'll be able to lock crew members out of certain ship functions, so if your turret gunner is a troll then you disable his access to ship power/shield controls, or if you have passengers then you block them from entering the engineering bay and the pilot seat just like you can't access the cockpit of a plane IRL.

Hopefully :)

The biggest German SC-news page has quit. They argue about the "loss in faith" into CIG and that SC will never released as promised and that Chris Roberts only makes concept sales without any chance to realize his vision.

Honestly? I don't believe them. Its just a cheap excuse for "I have no fun, time and motivation to operate this anymore". Thoug its sad, I find this kind of giving up unacceptable, blaming others for giving your own action some (questionable) reason.

I wouldnt worry, although the concept sales are obviously a cash cow for CIG, it does allow for further development. Money has to come from somewhere to fund it. Somewhere in the terms and conditions for ship refunds I read something about 18 months past estimated release date ( think that has been and gone) then CIG have abit of an issue and will be in the poop. Reality of it is this, if Chris Roberts and his counterparts manage to stear this ship down the toilet, they will never work in the industry again. Simple. Their careers would be nuked. So would the crowd funding movement I think. Realistically the hard work of the game is already done. Its more the fine tuning of various key aspects and mechanics. Also obviously the ship designs for the outstanding concept ships. I think the people with all the scare tactics are blowing hot wind out there ass, no real basis to anything. Plus the fact when has news or journalism ever relied on actual facts? Think newspapers and the like need to be filed under fiction. Why should the truth and factual information stand infront of a good story.

Also my thinking. For Chris Roberts is "his" CIG a kind of "pension plan" - it maybe is his last job, therefore SC has to last the next 10, 15 years. Then perhaps he'll sell the company and goes home with a billion banknotes, enjoying his life. When the time comes, he'll deserve it - I definitely do not want his current job! This must be a hell of a pressure for him, not only to manage this huge project and the company, but not at least the community, the fans, which all have *huge* expectations. I worry a little bit about what happens when SQ42 and/or SC will be released - and the fans have to face the fact, that only parts of the game meet their expectations ...

@Sam K Macer I think this game is incredibly ambitious, and I'm sure that even with our high expectations, that the game that comes out as a result will fulfill most of those expectations. Also, since we get to see the game being developed, we won't get blindsided. It's the reason I decided to back this, we get to see and test the product and if it's not up to snuff, they will change it. They haven't given themselves the option to give us anything less.

You're absolutely right. What I really like and every day excites me again a little bit is the fact that we have the opportunity to "accompany" SC, to be part of its "growing-process", nearly from the beginning.

3.30 p.m. - one hour to go until end of this working day :)
