The Constitution feels a bit silly to me. I'd also like it if it clearly called out gaybashing behavior in their "racism/sexism" section, but that might be a tall order.

In my opinion, Orangered's ideals should be changed to honor and duty. I know it's all semantics-- and I'm crap at explaining things anyway-- but service implies that UEE's rules should always be obeyed, potentially overriding honor.

Yeah I suck at explaining things.

The Constitution feels a bit silly to me. I'd also like it if it clearly called out gaybashing behavior in their "racism/sexism" section, but that might be a tall order.
While this isn't a super big deal for me (since it continues from the aforementioned to "other such closed minded idealisms."), it is Redd's constitution; it's necessary to be specific. This is how loopholes are born.

We are underrepresented in the member roster, fill out this form.
You know, I've been hesitant to fill out that form. I went ahead and did it, but something skeeves me out a bit with needing to put my info there.

It's occurred to me since watching the espionage video that I posted in another thread that it would be a massive bit of spycraft for one of the leaders of Reddfaction to actually be a Goonsquader, or the like.

You're saying that as if it'd affect our odds of surviving in space. Goon infiltrator or not, we're still going to explode in a glorious ball of very short-lived fire.

I have been contacted by a several members who do not like it, Ive heard their arguments and I have to agree with the points they make about putting your info in there.

It is NOT compulsory to fill out that form,

Fill out if you want, it will help the voting system, but you dont have to if you dont want to.

I haven't filled it out despite request from Reddfaction to do so.

Well, I guess I took one for the team, then.

I voted Nay on the Constitution. This argument best sums up my concerns, though I also added some comments of my own as a reply to that link.

You're saying that as if it'd affect our odds of surviving in space. Goon infiltrator or not, we're still going to explode in a glorious ball of very short-lived fire.
That's an excellent point, and one I needed reminding of.

My concern primarily became one of protecting my real-life identity and accounts. Reddfaction is turning into a large faction and I don't know what direction they might turn in. If SC involves faction warfare and it crosses over into RL like EVE warfare has, having information that could compromise my privacy in a member roster of a large organization is something I feel cautious about.

I also don't fully understand the relationship between SC TEST Corps and TEST EVE, nor what TEST Eve was all about, but it's an organization that was prominent enough to get into news feeds about the game and we're the largest subfaction within Reddfaction, so it's reasonable to assume our membership might be monitored by a rival faction to Reddfaction. Even if we're wholly unassociated with TEST Eve, rival factions might not understand or believe that.

I apologize for being alarmist. Certainly, those who aren't concerned shouldn't become concerned because of my words here. I just realized after registering in Reddfaction that I wasn't entirely comfortable doing so and overrode that out of a patriotic impulse to represent TEST Squardon.

Anyway, this has become too serious of a post. Break out the 40-ouncers and hamster-sized party hats.

And now I am feeling like I should take a cold shower or something for filling it out

I agree with your points and your concern is completely valid, but at the same token, you do take a risk just by being on the internet in general. Hell, even shopping online has its risks but so is stepping outside the front door or getting in a car. The key is taking steps to ensure your information is safe or has fail safes. Like putting a lock on your credit account with one of the big three, making sure that you check your credit card statements, getting a gun, etc.

The thing to note though with EVE, is their player-base is BATSHIT INSANE. I mean realistically speaking, these people have devoted YEARS of their time in order to be good at that game. When something means so deeply to you and its suddenly taken away because of some prick who just wants to blow up your ship (that you spent the better part of 3 months getting trained for and saved ISK for) because he can, well, shit gets real fast.

Their rivalries and stuff in game making its way into RL has a lot to do with the "backstabbing" nature that CCP allows. Its for the same reason that people make death threats on XBOX live during a COD match and etc. Like I said, when you get people who are so devoted to something, they will do whatever it takes to get even or whatever.

I agree 100%, but signing up with Reddfaction is one of the higher levels of exposure that I've committed in recent years and I didn't have myself locked down when I did it. I've since taken some of those measures, because I got skeeved out after I signed the registration form.

My hope is that SC doesn't have the same bat-crazy insane levels of factionalism that EVE has (which I only barely understand), and frankly I love it here with you guys and I've seen enough with Montoya and Seung and others to know that I'm perfectly fine here and essentially 'safe' inside of Test Squadron. I don't know the Reddfaction guys at all, though, and I'm not as impressed with the way they're playing their "let's form an Alliance" game, so the last thing I need is to randomly be subject to DDOS attacks and email hacks because they picked an idiotic fight with the wrong people and my name's on a list from three years previous when the game was just in the pledge stage.

I think it's worthwhile to sign up with Reddfaction in order to be a voting member, but anyone considering doing so should make sure to do their best to protect the accounts they do it with, because it is a relatively high-visibility public document in a genre known for its crazy antics that bleed over to RL. That's all. ;)

So... I filled in the registration thing, and now I just got a Reddit message from a "Redd Faction Broadcasting Corporation" or something account about how there's only a day or two left to vote on the constitution. Just as a heads up, evidently that will happen if you fill out the form. There is an opt out option, but be aware.

ELI5 reddfaction and their autistic constiwhatever and how it effects us?

are we trying to be their pet?
Short version: They have a constitution that says "this is our constitution but perwinkle is excluded" We are a part of perwinkle branch that are basically their allies. We are NOT pets. They do not have command over us.

Long version: I am too lazy to write this.

Edit: Long version: In the early days Reddfaction was created and it had an interesting model. They would be an umbrella group for many member organizations to be a part of them. This was interesting but eventually when some groups noticed their somewhat strict rules they decided to be more of allies rather than member organizations. This is essentially the perwinkle branch. If you look at Montoya's state of the squadron video he will clarify and specifically say that we will help them and they will help us. Redd does not rule us.
