Soo... I was watching ATV this past weekend and noticed that after they got done showing off the Buc, they kept hinting at a big, Drake related, surprise coming soon. If you pause the video at exactly 40:26, during the "glitchy" Drake advert, you can clearly see a frontal view of what looks, to me, like a reworked Cutlass. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's a whole new ship being announced. Thoughts? Opinions? Hilarious shit-posts?

More than likely they are just about done with the re-work. It will probably be coming sooner than 3.0.

No offense but since they have been showing the development of the cutlass black revamp regularly it would completely fail to provide any shock. So if its that it is pretty underwhelming!

I know they've been showing it's progress. I just didn't expect it to be ready this quickly after work on the Buc finished. 2.6.2 dropped last week.

Ship pipeline has them being pumped out pretty fast now. Including reworks. This is part of the reason we got the caterpillar, 85x, and will be getting the prospector in 3.0 even when it was originally slated for 3.1.

Dropping the Cutty early would necessitate the release of a 2.6.3 update, and that would piss a lot of people off. They'd have to offer more gameplay-related beef along with the new ship to avoid a revolt.

Meh. Maybe. Maybe not. I find they easiest way to not get pissed off is to not get pissed off. It works wonders for me. ;)

A person is smart; People are stupid and impatient. I was speaking more to the general shitstorm that would descend over reddit if 2.6.3 were announced without some significant additions to gameplay. I personally wouldn't mind it if we got some functionality out of it, but there is that camp that believes the next thing should be 3.0 or nothing. Tis a delicate PR balance that CR must walk if 3.0 is much further out.

I dont think they would implement a whole patch for one ship, if anything, they would sneak it in there without updating.

How tho? As far as I understand it; any new content, including the 3d Models for ships, needs to be downloaded by the patcher and stored on your local machine. They could do stuff like network tweaks from their end without us seeing an update, but anything that will be a physical object in the game will have to go through the patcher.

Who knows? Maybe they WILL decide to drop a 2.7 to get more of Item system 2.0 in our hands to test. I would welcome that.

maybe we already have it and we just dont know it.....and all CIG needs to do is push a button and BAM! now we have the new cutty

I think they did at Gamescon least year that the game was going straight to 3.0 after 2.6. In the spirit of what @Han Burgundy just said, I think we'd have people going freaking crazy if they dropped a 2.7.
Side note: I, personally, DGAF. Take as long as you need CIG. :)
