I'll make it there some day. Just gotta strengthen my heart. It's strange though because I run up my stairs as a workout routine but walking back up that trail killed me. I can run up 20 flights of stairs with no problem but a 3000 ft decent was much worse.
maybe it's the altitude

ride a mule to the bottom of the canyon and you will have no problem with the first part of the ascent

the Colorado River is the same elevation as Phoenix, the canyon rim is a mile higher

I've never had problems with altitude adjustment. I used to live in Flagstaff and we'd go from there (7000ft) to the top of snowbowl (11,500ft) and I could run around with no problem. I was running around the rim just fine before we went down. My friend and I were even passing people on the way down the trail.

It's just weird for me that after all of that time my heart started pounding extra hard and hurting. I wasn't out of breath nor were my legs tired or sore. It was just my heart :/

Stevetank needs a new engine...

I'm kinda fat though. Like 30 lbs overweight but with strong arms and legs. It's just my gut that holds all of my fat.

Here's me 2 days after with two new t16000s to try out.

The joysticks kinda block my gut but you can still see the roundness.

My gut has never held me back before. I still run, though slower than my skinny friends. The difference is that when we go out airsofting, I carry a 24lb PKM and they carry their 4lb M4s. After 4 hours of running and having fun, I'm still not far behind them. Sometimes I stick my 9lb metal L85 on my back as a backup weapon because I hate pistols and sometimes I need to cover my own flanks as a machine gunner.

It's just that Monday, August 7th, Bright Angel Trail kicked my ass...

see a doctor

when I went in for chronic shortness of breath my doctor said it could be C.O.P.D. or a serious heart condition

I took a bunch of diagnostic tests and my heart was OK

get your heart checked

FYI I lived in Flag for thirteen years, and then another fifteen in the Valley, we have Arizona in common

I'll try, but the last time I saw a doctor for my heart, they took my money and told me that I was fine.

I saw 3 doctors. The first said that I was fine and I should go back to work and stop complaining. The second one had me go to the hospital for a blood test. $950 later he told me that I was fine and I should go back to work. The third one said that I have Tietze Syndrome (which is only partially a heart problem) and that there's no cure. It would either go away in 16 weeks or I'd have it forever. That was 5 years ago and I still have it.

I just don't like doctors from my experiences.

Also, I'm glad that I don't have to explain what a Flagstaff is or what it has to do with mythical birds made of fire or the Grand Canyon. Glad to see that we have something in common.

Well, dropping my weight and dropping dead are almost the same.... Or at least it feels like it. It's back to the stairs tomorrow.

*grumble grumble veggies grumble no fries grumble grumble*
Do what I do. Goto morning PT, cry, try your best, get fit, have a greasy heart attack in the shower, go eat eggs and bacon, start again

The trail I recently hiked and died on.

Bright Angel trail at the Grand Canyon. I made it a quarter of the way to the ranger station... which is half way to the bottom. Running around the rim was no problem but walking down that trail killed my heart. I have heart problems :(
Beautiful. Simply gorgeous.

I'm really sorry to hear about your heart though.

I'm in the same boat brother. Fit as fuck everywhere else, gut trying to kill me. Wifey and I are ramping up the activity level and monitoring the food intake, so we should start seeing some progress here soon.
