lol @EmpireRuled . Not too shabby of a proclamation though, is it? I lost count of how many pioneers we have in total. Now aside from waiting "patiently" for 3.0 and so on, we also have to wait for the time we will be finally able to use those capital ship PNG image in our hangers. I think they gave me a loaner Drake Caterpillar in lieu though. That was a little fun to fly last night ... going to need to work on capital ship maneuvering I think. It's somewhat awkward when the nose of your ship is in a different orbit than the ass end.

I am SO tempted, and for the first time in my life I actually have the means to make good on such a purchase... But I think that I will invest that money on more ships over the next couple of months to expand my existing fleet. My ever-present gaming buddy (my 20 year old) and I will bring to the table niche capabilities that, along with the rest of the TESTie fleet, will add to our collective game play as well as our drunken, sleep-deprived shenanigans. For those who now own Pioneers? We will be right there with you, an affiliated multi-role Org that will support TEST SQUADRON in whatever we do in the coming years. Now let's expand and bomb the shit out of the hordes of trolls and griefers who will undoubtedly come for us.
The more I think about the pioneer, the more I think that this really is a game changer, in that it brings a lot of the non-military game play into focus. Here you have a massive ship, that has limited ability to protect itself. Most of the capital ships actually, especially the slow cumbersome ones will need fighter escort wings too, or unlimited lifetime insurance (got it!). But other than this, it's going to both need, and be able to facilitate infrastructure for the org. I see demand for crews for exploration and surveyors, to find locations to build, this will need scouting, prospecting, mining and manufacturing ops, transport ships to move materials, and as we build our pirate ba ... I mean Test Squadron org facilities... players even just to use them. Where a Frigate or Destroyer will need escort, supply, and logistics support, the Pioneer will be facilitating the infrastructure to build that support. maybe?

Well said, and I absolutely concur. After work I am completely on board with running scouting and recon for the capital ship crews and their escorts. I think that feeling like a contributing member of a team will be its own reward. Besides, in order to establish a strategic foothold for our empi* I mean Org, we need people who understand the bigger picture as much as the faster, more tactical view. I am very, very excited about this. Working together and having fun will carry all of us in our respective interests, and I think this game is going to offer so much scope that none of us will get bored - because there will be so much to do. Imagine the stories we are going to build. That time we executed a MEDEVAC during a pitched space battle, that time we rescued an Orgmate who was stranded on a moon somewhere escaping and evading notice by the griefers who stole his ship, or a call out for the Test Squadron Fleet for an all day/all night campaign! I am so ready, brother.

They sold out today FAST (I think under an hour)
Well yeah, that's because you bought them all.
If ever you need somebody to help you operate yours & I'm around, I'll be happy to do my best to assist you.
Anytime, friend. You get first pick of the chair to man. I'm just gonna be the bartender in the on board bar I'm gonna build first.

Well I got one via melting other stuff, thought it might be more interesting than the Genesis (okay still moving stuff) buccaneer hull b and so on. I like the idea of building stuff I presume your going to pick mining station x or whatever rather than it being free form but overall I preferred it to being an air host!

There is however 1 aspect of the Pioneer that I wish they would fix. We should be able to coat our ships black with gold trim & TEST Squadron badging to warn off those who would attack by reminding them that by attacking 1 of us, they better bring enough alcohol to get the rest of us too drunk to operate our ships to prevent us from chasing them down & giving them the worst wedgies ever.

The Painting of ships is something they plan to do.

I have no idea where screenshots go. I press the button on the keyboard, then open Photoshop and Ctrl+V.
So... there's an easier way. Hmm.

I am not quite sure how we can defend these things en route to destination. Despite owning one of these ships, I can't just ignore the problem. They are huge floating targets, with little to no turret coverage on the belly side as far as I can see. I hope that screening vessels can knock out enough of a large volley of torps from a group of polaris and talis so they cant just hit and run on this thing. Also, Ewar is hopefully going to slow down such actions, I suspect thats why they gave the tali small scanners.

On the ground, it is a different story. Once deployed the production unit seems well defended. I am more curious how close outposts can be to one another, can you for example create a ring of defensive anti-air and anti-ground unit outposts and then put farms and mining ops (and I guess a trading post and landing facilities obviously) in the middle? If so the risk is far worth the reward... but we will need to pull a Disney and pick up a ton of land with folks who ditch the test moniker and then at last moment bring them back into the fold- last thing you want is "oh wow TEST Squad bought a quarter of a whole damn continent on this moon, lets camp there with every tali/eclipse/polaris we got".

Just some thoughts on the challenges of colonization.

If you're on Windows, press the Windows key, type "Snipping Tool" and open the app that shows up. I like to pin that icon to my taskbar to make it easier in the future.

Snipping tool has many options - full screen screenshot, single application screenshot, rectangle or freeform screenshot. You then save the image wherever you want.

It's definitely the best way to take/edit/save screenshots on Windows without having to install 3rd party software.

You have saved probably around 40 hours of my future time.
