Buying Hawks?

So if I, let's say, melt my Orion and buy a hawk, can i repurchase my Orion on a later date?

Or... Melt my orion, but a hawk, melt the hawk, repurchase the orion, and at a later date repurchase the hawk?

Yuppers, you can do that.
You can buyback with fresh cash, or use credit every three months with a buyback token. But you can't stock up on buyback tokens, you only ever have one at a time. You can see if you have a token available in the buyback section of your hangar on the store page. That's pretty much how I've played Star Citizen for the last couple years.
Bear in mind, if you melt something you've upgraded, you get the credit but can only buyback the original before it was upgraded. Example: Gladius upgraded to Super Hornet gets melted, you can buyback the Gladius but not the Super Hornet. You still have the credit for what you spent on the upgrade though.

I'm debating getting one as an upgrade for my Herald. Extra 5 bucks, but I like the combo of light fighter/ECM pods.

Please don't ... herald has distinctive and unique role ... hawk is just an anvil version of warlock .. it isn't real fighter in a world full of superhornets and even gladiuses

Barn Owl would be the farming variant, with 2x S2 crop duster attachments. Horned Owl variant would have a king-size coffin bed in the back, with mood lighting. @Blind Owl variant would have the TEST forums on a monitor obscuring the entire view from the cockpit.

You can buyback packages too (unless they have physical items?). Or you can buy a cheaper game package, so you have more credit to play the melt and buyback game.

Supposedly, yes, but you supposedly have to wait 24 hours after purchasing a ship / package before you can melt it to your buy back area to be purchased later. You should be able to purchase 1 ship per annual quarter with creds. Otherwise you have to purchase them with new funds.

I'm really looking forward to the bounty hunting life but don't always want to be stuck in my Cutlass Blue. So, naturally I'm weak and have no will power to not buy ships and bought a Hawk... and F7C-M..... on the first day of the sale... what is wrong with me?

I'm not sure about that. If all the extra stuff is still just in-game stuff (Grey Cat, fish tank, etc.), you should be able to melt and buyback. I think if it's one of the really early packages that came with things like a physical game manual that would be mailed to you, those might be excluded from buyback. Someone around TEST Squardon knows more about those than me.

I can relate. Sometimes I think that I should have named my char Ash Catchem because my wallet seems to want to catch them all. However, this round of purchases for me will all be with credits.

Yeah thankfully I had just under 200 in credits but it still cost a touch more than that. And I know I'll fold and get something else this week...

Lol thanks. I think I will melt it and get a few things in the coming days and melt those to get my Connie back.

I agree about the DireHawk. The ShadowHawk reminds me of an idea I had the other day of an OWL ship in honor of @Blind Owl that I posted in some other thread here.
