Maybe I'm crazy for thinking this, but what if you could equip a Hull series ships with automated point of defense turrets on the end of each row of cargo pods as long as the outer most pods before the turrets housed a special cargo container that housed all that would be needed for the turrets to function?

I think that would be the difference between "cargo ship with guns strapped to it" and "combat ship designed to pew pew fighters".


And balance-wise, it's fairly easy to throw reasons. All those weapons are going to eat a metric shitton of power, don't have the attachments for guns larger than S1, or dont have proper ammo storage, etc etc

It seems a bit silly to expect a cargo ship to be blasting fighters out of the sky, even with a lot of guns strapped to it.

Actually, my idea was that the turrets would somehow defend against incoming missiles, torpedoes & other forms of attacks to better protect the ship's shields from taking as much damage. Not to be an assault craft.

1. It's for sure a heavy hitting gun boat style ship with all those turrets.

2. It's ugly AF so it's probably designed for military/infantry use.

3. Aegis has a classified ship on the anniversary page that is a blurred Cutlass.

Hoping for a 90m x 110m sized ship that hits harder than a thousand ton sledgehammer.

Actually the first thing I thought was 'It's a Helicarrier' rather than a hammerhead. Just with all the protruding bits replaced with turrets.


Also, I think it may have 6 turrets, as there should be one more in the belly if we are talking about 360 anti-ship coverage.
Pretty sure it's going to hit above it's weight too.

And lastly, if it has a reinforced prowl and engine options for RAMMING SPEED! We can officially call it a Hammerhead, yup.

Take away the hopes and dreams of all the backers, and you have just a normal company with CIG. At the end of the day, they are in the business of making money. When it comes down to that, I can't imagine anything that would make them more money than a cap ship gun boat. The Polaris made them almost 5 million dollars. Granted, it was the first "Capital" ship that wasn't neutered, but it definitely proved a point.

Honestly, I'm surprised it took them this long to take another bite out of that multi-million dollar apple. If I were to wager a guess, I would think it will either be a straight up frigate or carrier. CIG loves their military ships. With that in mind, they have their destroyer (the Javelin). They also have the Idris and Polaris that float in between carrier and frigate. What they don't have, is the plain jane frigate. They don't have a capital sized ship that is dedicated to destruction (that isn't neutered out of the gate like the Javelin).

So my hope, and my wallet, is expecting a large scale multi-crew gunboat that is capable of owning a particular portion of space. It could always be another starter ship that was misplaced, but that is my hope.

Just so you know if this is at a good price point I might take the plunge even if I go broke for a few weeks i'll just give people stuff from my house on Christmas.
