Delivery mission gone sour

So here I was, doing some delivery missions because I lost all my money on a trade run (I fucked up, not a bug or crash, long story...) And I figured doing some delivery missions, enjoy the view, and get some creds to get into the trade run business again would be the best thing at this point.

So I went down to planet Yela, landed my titan, went into the outpost to grab the delivery, when I suddenly hear explosion sounds. Looking outside the window I see my baby taking hits and eventually falling apart... Now when I landed I'm sure there was no one around, so that guy arrived after me, and after a few secs I see a connie landing. Now, who would be doing delivery in a connie? isn't that ship too big to be running delivery... Anyway, I did the only thing reasonable, and that was pull out my pistol and apply some whippin'. He died relatively easy (yeah all that armor and fancy guns are not good if your aim is shit...) but now I found myself stuck... I couldn't even get his connie and fly out because the platform wouldn't raise :/ I poked around for a couple of min until I decided I might as well quit the game and try again some other day...

Honestly I think that if the ship owner dies, it should automatically unlock for anyone to use... your thought?

That would make sense. I'd think it already unlocks a ship if the owner dies...
Weird.

What ship were you flying?

And how did you lose all your moneys?

I don't think so. If that were an actual mechanic some idiot with a sniper rifle would be hiding in the hills smoking people then letting his friends walk away with your ship, especially with the current crime system.

That gives me an idea...

I'm going to sit in the hills at the drug lab and snipe people. Then I am going to let my friends walk away with their ships. #EmergentContent

Soon with the ability to hack and breach doors.
This I agree with, getting smoked then someone blowing open doors is completely acceptable. I'd have an issue if my phone suddenly told me that on the latest update if I die, it will fully unlock, for "convenience" purposes. I would rather have the last thing it told me be that it was deleting all my, um, meticulously organized media on my file server at home.

FBI and homeland security want this. Just ask Apple and Google.

I like this conversation, but I want to point out that this will become silly very quickly, if it's that easy to get a ship. The idea that you can just killl some noob who doesn't have a clue, or a guy going for a piss in RL for his ship is just too easy. It needs to have a much higher risk, or we'll have campers everywhere.

What I was hoping for is they'd settle on blowing open the airlock, and either stealing the cargo, or stealing the ship and cargo, but ownership of the intact ship doesn't transfer permanently. ... though... the ship could become raw material too. That might entice me to buy a reclaimer.

I thought they talked about the ownership would remain with the original owner unless they did an insurance claim at which point ownership would transfer to the NPC insurance company who could spawn recovery missions on said ship.

I do know they do currently track two kinds of ownership the physical possession and who it belongs to. Which is great as it allows one to remove the current gooy ship control and replace it with your own. Only after a successful take over be it by centrifuge (hey owl want a beer, i hear they have cold ones down yonder), hacking the door lock, or just breaching and entering though the cloud of smoke like some bad ass light welding warrior who only wanted his stolen data back.

I disagree...I think that, if some punk destroys your ship, and you then kill them in manly one-on-one combat, you ought to
a) be able to cut his head off (spinal cord included) and mount it on your hanger wall, and
b) be able to rifle through his pockets and steal the keys to his ship.

Just may opinion, though! Others may disagree!

This needs to be in the game.

Maybe we could all group up, sit in hills and snipe people, take over the drug labs and corner the market, maximum profit!!
