God I hope I have some cash in October. My fever dream to get hold of the 9900k, the 2080 ti and an Acer x27 could well end in despair.

Gaming at 4k now seems viable.

But oh to play star citizen on anything but my current old MSI laptop with a 970m.

Nah, I'm going for an easy 144fps in all games at 1440p for a few years before shelling out for a 4k/144 rig. Just not worth it to me yet.

No, it won’t be worth it. Many games, including SC, are not optimized for SLI. In fact, running with SLI, can cause some issues. That said, if you are running multiple monitors, it might help there.

But I would suggest you get the the best single card instead of trying to run SLI

I am glad the next gen has come along. Sadly as the miners showed the manufactures people will pay exceedingly high prices I doubt they will come down to reasonable levels anytime soon. Since I am now 2 gens of cards behind I may look at this gen in a few months time to see how they affect the market.

I currently think that miners might be not very much interested in buying these cards because you pay for ai and raytracing (which currently?) can't be used for mining. Also the big mining hype seems to be gone (atm)

If I get paid for my screenplay around then, I am inclined to spurge as a treat for myself. Not bought a new PC in too long, let alone a balls to the walls one. But I might drop down to the Predator XB273K as it is half the price as the x27.

Good luck with that! I hope you wrote something you can sell. I made the mistake of writing a TV series pilot, unaware at the time that the studios can't even look at it until one is a full Writer's Guild member (12 credits). Were I to do it again, I would write a made for TV movie, or MOE for "Movie Of the Week", which is by far the easiest to sell. Is that what you did or did you go for a feature film?
