I did a 180 on Fallout 76.. now I love it!

Aside from the specifics of FO76 (both good and bad) It seems we are being conditioned to accept poorer and poorer quality releases across the board. I shy away from many major publishers and their AAA games until they have had some bake time. Let someone else suffer the frustration. I've worked QA off and on over the years, I know what game the publishers are playing.

The fact that these conversations keep popping up over and over again are an indication of this. Some players will find 'good enough release' works for them but I expect Witcher 3 or RDR2 quality. There is just to much good stuff out there to suffer through good enough products.

This is in essence Derek Smart’s criticism of SC. It’s not valid when he says it and it’s not valid when we say it. Value is in the eye of the buyer.

Uhm you are comparing apples to oranges my friend, Star Citizen is in alpha and RSI has never claimed this to be a finished product or sold as such, you can't buy SC on the shelf as a done title so this with all due respect has nothing to do with SC.

This all hinges on your definition of an unfinished product.

As far as laying down the basics for how this game works and the opening quest, this game is complete.

Some bad frame rates, clunky AI and server disconnects do not rate as feature incomplete to me. I rate those as bugs they can iron out in the coming months.

Im just about done the main campaign so my honeymoon period is coming to close. My biggest complaint is that this is supposed to be a 10yr plan, but this game engine was showing its age badly back in Fallout 4.

I do not understand how they think they can squeeze another 2yrs, never mind 10yrs from this game engine.

Some of these bugs have been there since fallout 4 my friend, some of the content is actually worse than it was in fallout 4, the interface somehow managed to actually stay the same or get worse, I say let the gaming community decide and from what I can tell it has received pretty low marks from the average user.

If they had released this and said it was in beta purchaser beware fine I could understand that, don't sell a game and call it done and in the dev's own words say its not a finished product.

I am glad some people enjoy it, I am not here to convince people not to buy it or enjoy it, what really bugs me is the content developers release these days has become horrible, these companies make billions on trash games and then expect people a year later to say oh it only took a year to make it the game it was supposed to be lol.

I'm nearly level 30 after a few days of playing so... yea.. I'm enjoying it! It's meant to be played with friends. Also some of the bugs are infuriating but that's Bethesda for you. They suck at anything other than solo only games. But... Fo76 is still fun to play with friends, and that's what matters the most to me right now.

There is a certain level of pain that has been factored into these early release cycles and it is a straight up business case. They are out to make money, making a quality product will only be part of the release criteria if it is needed to make money.

As many others have indicated, if they'd gone the route of traditional MMO releases, calling this state 'Restricted Beta*' with a note that certain content would be inaccessible until release and to expect progress to be periodically lost or fully reset to aid in addressing issues or to focus on specific content, they still would've seen great sales without pissing people off as they'd know up front what they're getting into.

I get it but the fact is they are a triple A game company and many copies sold just because of the name Bethesda, if this had been joe shmoe nobody company it would not have sold half or even three quarters as much and there in lies the problem, top companies are using their branding to sell shit games and its working they bank and then cut the staff and fix it over the next 6 months or a year while half the staff starts a new title, rinse and repeat.

Honestly youtube game reviwers are turning into social justice warriors of gaming. Nothing can live up to their purity tests, everything is trash, even CD project Red will fall from grace at one point, and will get savaged by them.
I would get if they would explain calmly what they don't like, but at this point they just screech at everything.

I have to say I really enjoyed BF4 after the sadness that was Dice jump in with consoles with bad company. And then they lost their minds with Battlefront and BF1 and so I have once again stop buying their games.

It is weird to not really have any new games having been purchased besides some indies it does free up a lot of money for Star Citizen.
