also, the server thing is 40k people in a WORLD, which is all connected together with server meshing, like a jigsaw puzzle.

Dont hate on the game until A) you try it and B) they flesh out a few things.

This is still early access and no where near a final product.

Meh, screw reviewers. I'll give it a try eventually. We can't hate on it, we play Star Citizen! The king of all WIP early access alphas!

I'm at the point where I don't trust reviewers anymore. Whether from salty users or news sites, they always find so much to mark down on. For example, JC4 is getting butchered by reviewers, but I just got it Friday and I'm loving it (had some very amusing bugs, but nothing gamebreaking, just silly collision things).

40k people in a world in this instance literally translates to 40k people in a group of servers. Its the equivalent of ff14 where they have 6 different servers in a cluster but now you can move between the servers. It isnt in anyway 40k simultaneously. You cant get 40k people simultaneously jn the same location. This game is equivalent to diablo 3 with bigger lobbies. Diablo 3 has a world and a bunch of servers that people can join amd leave. That doesnt make the game a mmo and it doesnt equal simultaneous in the same world, because if a server caps at 150 you cant join it. Unlike mmos there is no cap im zones. Its a lie.

Eve is capable of 40k simultaneously in the same world Atlas is literally abusing words to make you believe something it cant do by playing with words when the real definition of what the steam page says is describing a game like eve. You can literally do the exact same thing in Ark that this game is doing. The just make it play with the word "world" to make you believe you are all playing together. The world is 16 servers big. Is essentially just making 16 different maps. Its kinda like battlefield, you jave 16 maps and you can hop between lobbies
This is in no way different. Bf by the definition of what this game wants you to believe compared to what it actually is, is a mmo by comparison then.

All the negative reviews... yet still the current best seller on steam... are people buying it in early access just to hate on it?

I have always wondered how the algorithm for that works on Steam to show what is best seller. I may keep this game on the radar still as it does look like it has potential, but currently I only have time for a few games and this one looks like a major time sink.

Nah, it's just a function of how reviews work. Only a very small percentage of people who bought the game actually reviewed the game (much less than 1% according to the stats). If that small of a percentage is actually motivated to leave a review, they would have to be VERY motivated when compared to the average player. So that means that they either really loved it or really hated it. Considering most people have yet to even log on, the only people left are those that really hate it.

The high purchase stats (somewhere between 200k and 500k according to steamspy), are likely because the industry is largely devoid of solid mmo's at the moment. Of course tons of people are going to try anything new. We're starving for a good game. So since most people can't log on and comment about the game, the only thing left are the angry purchasers that expected a smooth day one release.

As for me I'm going to chill out, enjoy the holidays, and play it when it becomes playable. I've been a gamer since the 80's. This isn't my first picnic. I know how this goes and a few days isn't going to change anything. It certainly isn't going to influence my ability to enjoy the game in a week or so. Good god, remember back in the EQ days? Remember any release, or patch, or expansion, in the history of MMO's.. ever?

i dont want to play it because they falsely advertise the game as something it isnt
The game itself is still fun though. If you only bought games based on advertising they provided, you wouldnt have very many games. Go buy the game, try it, see if you like it for 2 hours, if you dont.... refund it through steam.

I've slept 4 hours in 2 days ....
Rest of the time .... Atlas.

One of the easiest $25 game purchases I've made. We're having a blast on TEST Island. Feel free to join the discord Atlas Channel.

You should hear what people say about star citizen.
Atlast is literally a dlc though, you go into the hidden menu and it shows dlc maps and Ocean is Atlas under the dlc. Im not saying Atlas isnt fun nor could it be, but they are marketing it as something it isnt and I dont appreciate those marketing practices, it is deceptive.
